Gaz ran after Amaranth as quickly as he could, but realized that the man was as good as dead if he didn't move more quickly. A thought sprung to mind in an instant, and he quickly grabbed hold of his hoverdisc off in the distance. It was a long shot, but it just might work. The disc shot forward like a bullet, slamming into the villain like a cannonball and knocking him almost a hundred yards down the street. Satisfied, Gaz snapped his fingers and caused the disc to release a massive buildup of electricity. The hero recognized that the disc was now useless for the rest of the fight, but it was all he needed to get into position.

He took up a defensive stance in front of the man, who interrupted his chanting to shout "Halfway there!"

"Halfway t' what?!" Gaz shouted back.

A shockingly malicious grin spread across the man's wrinkled face. "Banishment spell!"

"Oh fuck, y're gonna kill him?!" Gaz replied.

"No! Push him out of city! Permanently! Magic defeats magic, not superpowers!"

Sylvia pressed a button on the wall in her and Rob's bedroom, and the wall lifted away. It was filled with weapons: AK-47s, M4s, M14s, M16s, Mossbergs, RPG-7s, M97s, and many more weapons. Sylvia picked up a holster and slung it over her back. She picked up a lever-action shotgun and placed it in one side of the holster; in the other side went her favorite katana. She took another set of shin holsters and strapped them to her legs, putting in a Smith and Wesson .500 in each, then grabbed a bunch of ammo for all of her weapons. And they say I carry too few weapons.

She walked out the door and went downstairs, to the garage, and got into Robert's Camero. She pumped the music- metal, of course- and backed out.

The hobo swaggered back a bit at the gravity, he put his hand in front of him, slowly raising his head to look at Dan. "You ready to see how we do it in China Town?" He suddenly surged forward fastern than any normal could have managed, his fist ignited in a hot orange flame, closing in on Dan's face.

The slug speaks into Roxanne's ear. "I take it you found Jess, I hear her voice" Kor says through the blob as he gets out of the pool and stretches himself. He goes into the kitchen and grabs some coffee.

"Yaay, How we get there then?" Ricky said smiling at the two."We go fast again?" Ricky asked the woman, not even caring for an answer from the man doing the running. These people are nice...He thought as he smiled on happily waiting for a response.

Road Worrier looked at the man angrily. "Fuck no I'm not carrying-" "Of course! Is there any other way to travel?" Shutterbug interrupted. Road Worrier looked at her, but decided it would be best to keep up the facade of marriage. "You're right, my little shutterbug," He said, his voice sweet and caring. "Why would I ever disagree with you?" He walked over and kissed her.

"[small]Get your lips away from me before I kill you.[/small]" Shutterbug whispered as she slid a gun out of her pocket. "Oh my, I didn't know I was married to such a dirty woman." Road Worrier said, his face in a light blush. "[small]Just play along and we can ditch the retard.[/small]" He whispered before lifting her in his arms. "Huh, sorry, big guy, but me and the wife need a bit of... adult time. Swing by tomorrow, ask for Loretta Lee and David Lee, that's us, and we can have an adventure." He said before darting off towards the burnt apartments, leaving Ricky behind.

"See, I told you it would work." He said as he jump from one roof to another. Shutterbug looked at him angrily. "You mean about ditching him, or about you getting on my 'to kill' list? Because you just managed both." She said, her arms folded. Road Worrier laughed. "Well, get in line, 'cause I'm on a good thousand of those." He jumped down to the street and put Shutterbug down. "Besides, we're here. You can kill me later." He said as he turned to face the burnt out apartments.

Karen sat in the kitchen drinking coffee. "This tastes like shit." She wasn't wearing her bandages as she felt safe. That and she didn't actually have any left. Kor entered the room and she regarded him "Mornin' Kor." She knew perfectly well it wasn't morning but she felt it was right, plus she was in the kitchen and that made it morning for her. "What's up?"

"Not much really" He says as he takes another sip of his coffee. He walks over to the window and stares out towards the city. "This is messed up" He murmurs to himself before looking back at Karen. "Your face is quite messed up, Do you have a picture of it before it was like that?" He asks

"Lemme check." She searched through her breast pocket, fishing out a wrinkled picture, clearly ripped out from another picture. "This was me when I was six." Sliding it over. It showed a very young stern faced girl who seemed like she wasn't very happy. "That was my sixth..." Karen looked up and paused. "...Birthday."

"So if you hadn't had gotten into an accident." Kor says as his face takes the face of the girl and starts changing. "You would look like this?" Kor finishes as his body stops changing into the older form. "Not to shabby" He says with a grin as he goes back into his Australian form.

Sylvia looked at the building. It was just another office complex, but from the info she had gotten, this should've been where Rob was. She got out of the car and checked her guns.

Karen laughed. "I note I still don't have any breasts. I like my face. It helps me intimidate people." She gestured to her left half of the lips which were conspicuously missing. "I don't suppose you have any healing skills? Also big question, Guns or swords?"

"I have very, very good healing skills" Kor says as he makes his arm into a large blade and then whips the pistol out from his cloak. "Guns and swords make a good combo." He says with a grin.

After what seemed like endless running, May found what she was sure to be her final destination. It was the Rat Pack's HQ, hidden under the General Hospital near the center of town. After moving to the new city, her gang had attempted to expand but found that this Police Department was far more competent than the previous. So instead of the usual lifestyle, she decided to reach a compromise with the chief of police. In exchange for the Rat Pack's "services", they were given a central base with top of the line equipment hidden in a convenient location.

She walked through the front doors to find the place empty, lights flickering on and off in the lobby. She was about to call out, when a shadow leaped from the corner. She drew her sword and swung at it, meeting what felt like a gelatinous mass. The thing split in two, each half falling to either side of her before sizzling to the ground in its death throes. Before she even had time to breathe a sigh of relief, a dozen more of the things rose up from the ground. A terrible chorus of screams and ghastly sighs poured from them as they lurched forward. May readied herself to fight, only to be stopped by a dinging noise on the other side of the lobby. An elevator door opened, revealing half a dozen Rat Pack soldiers in Air-sealed armor and equipped with flamethrowers.

They charged into the ranks of the gelatinous freaks, burning them to a crisp. More erupted from a hallway linking to the lobby, climbing onto one of the soldiers and piercing through the armor. His shrieks were muffled as the ooze sealed up all the free space in the armor. As he flailed about, suffocating, the other soldiers moved up and let their weapons go free, the flames engulfing their comrade and the ooze with it. May ran up alongside them, and was grabbed by one of the soldiers and dragged into the elevator. As soon as they were all in even more of the zombified freaks came charging from all sides, about to attack the elevator. With luck, they were moving further down in the elevator well before they reached the survivors.

"Good to see you're alive, ma'am." One of the soldiers said curtly.

"Yeah. We barely made it... Richard, right?"

"Yes ma'am." The subordinate replied. "Most of our forces were close enough to the serum or these suits to keep themselves safe from the gas. The rest turned into those freaks you saw up in the hospital. We've been fighting them off forever, but there's always more. You saw them get Bluto yourself; he's casualty number 13 against the ooze, and that's not even counting the ones who got gassed."

"Give me numbers, soldier." May demanded. "Survivors, statistics."

"Gas has a 100% kill rate, ma'am." He said. "Considering your situation, I suppose you've figured out that those with powers are unaffected. Lacking a proper vaccine, we empowered everyone we could reach. About 10% rejected our offer of safety, figured their new powers would protect them I suppose. Another 5% went insane on the spot. In total, I'd say we have about 2,500 empowered survivors, 800 of which are located in the HQ."

"The others?" May sked.

"Various outposts throughout the city." Richard said. "Also, I'd guess you'd want to know ma'am: Paragon was brought in about an hour and a half ago, Buck's with him. Apparently your husband's already trying to gather support for some fight. Inspiring guy."

"It's why I married him." May replied, deliberately avoiding Richard's gaze.

A ding from the elevator indicated they had arrive. The door opened, to reveal a room full of pure chaos as dozens of civilians and Rat Pack, along with the occasional soldier and police officer moved through various halls and rooms trying to find a place for themselves. Down in the conference hall, May heard a familiar voice. She handed Noah off to Richard and said "Take him down to the Psych Ward. Keep him under maximum security, I want no one touching him."

"The 'Psych' Ward?" Richard asked, dumbfounded. "You don't mean--"

"I do." She said. "Now get moving, I have a meeting to attend." She moved down the hallway at maximum speed, weaving through the crowds as she made straight for the conference.
