Oliver nodded to Umbra. "I do, but I'll have to deal with other things first." He approached Ashe, who informed him of the disappearance of three of the Renegades.

"I was already aware of their disappearance, Ashe. That's why I've been pushing for finding out what happened to them; there's no way that Minus isn't behind it. However, I understand that I might have been too harsh in getting this across. And I apologize for that, but I hope you can understand my reasoning."

He noticed that Charmer was cowering behind Ashe as well.

"I'm sorry to you too, Charmer. But there are bigger things going on here than any of us understand, and it gets frustrating trying to organize a group of people running around like headless chickens."

"Hmm..." Magus said, "These three people... would they by any chance have been anyone in this room?"

Oh, OK then. But the short attention span thing covers for it pretty well, you realize.

Umbra had introduced herself to Alex.
"I think so... Well, in any case you can call me Umbra."
Now, she listened to the conversation about the disappeared counterparts.

"It's okay. I realised that I must have seemed like an idiot too." Ashe responded. "But it doesn't look like any-one was forcefully taken out of here, there seems to be no sign of a struggle." he said, looking around the room. The paint was still perfect on the wall, not a single ship, "So whatever he did to our future selves... Wasn't physical..." he finished talking, and Magus asked who was missing.

"Our future selves. We haven't seen one of them since we got here. And 3 should be in the base right now..."

"If it wasn't physical, it was probably some sort of transporter technology." Oliver mused. "Might have even been the same basic type that he used on us. The only question is, were they moved to a different place, or time?"

Ana looked up. She still needed to talk to Oliver, he still didn't understand why she had been so upset and she felt that it was important for him to know... But right now, at least she could try to help answer his question.

"The only answer I can give to that is vague, Oliver...But I've been trying to locate our life energy signatures in any location other then the ones we're in... We're no where near here, if anywhere in this time anymore... It's as if he's wiped the future us off the face of the earth... I don't know if that means they're trapped or in another time, but we-they aren't here anymore..." She flexed her fingers and her hands began to glow slightly as she placed her index fingers against her temples.

"I can tell you, I could meditate all day and use almost all of my own energy.... I wont find them." She let her hands drop to her sides as she looked at Ashe and Oliver.

Hivemind sighed as he was ignored again. He went around the room and looked around for something to light his cigarette with. He then found a lighter stashed in the receptionist's drawer. "Man... You'd think my power was invisibility or something..." After lighting his cigarette he then went to find the Ana, the one person who hadn't ignored him.

Ana looked around the room for a chair... Seeing none that looked all too comfy she crossed her legs and sat in a corner a little bit further away from Ashe and Oliver. She yawned and leaned back against the wall, rubbing her eyes.

She must have been awake for hours now, she was becoming desperate for sleep. Out of curiosity she took out the little note she had been sent before...

"Magus Ec Machina, Magus Ex Machina, Magus Ex Machina..." She whispered under her breath... Nothing happened, and she wondered if it was a joke to make her look silly.

Ana sighed and leant her head against the wall, there was nothing for her to do really, except get in the way.

Hivemind stuck his head into the room and noticed Ana sitting in a corner. He waved hello at her and moved closer.

"Pretty crazy stuff, huh? This...place I don't know. It seems to quiet. It's just unnerving." He laughed and took a puff before blowing it out. "Do you mind if I smoke." His voice was mild and unassuming. Not nervous like before. "Sorry about the voice change... Oliver just puts me on edge."

Ana looked sideways at Abhaya. He seemed more relaxed and even happier now.

"Heh, you're not the only one... He is trying to help by being a leader, but he misunderstands that role... Instead of trying to boss us around he needs to listen, to ask questions and make suggestions... He is convinced that he knows best for all of us...(sigh) I suppose it's not really his fault, it seems to be a man thing-er no offence!"

Ana smiled, she noticed the smoke in Abhaya's hand... "They aren't very good for you, you know... How long have you been smoking for?" It seemed that her doctoring tendencies were still an old habit. Ana blinked suddenly as if she'd forgotten what she was doing, she looked away and then back at Abhaya... "Where have you been anyway?"

"Well that isn't the reason that Oliver makes me nervous." He gave her a mellow smile "And to answer your statement, No I don't take offense to it. I was raise in a household with little to no masculinity..." He paused "No... Karen was pretty masculine. But she was it." He laughed "She's one of my mothers. And as for the smoking question." He thought back "'Bout a year or two? I've been smoking since I was seventeen. Karen got me a pack as a joke and it doesn't really affect me as the Nano-bots just filter it out. And where I've been?" He gestured with his thumb against the wall "Next room over."

Ana smiled, maybe he was kind of opening up to her, did that mean he trusted her? She leant her head against the wall.

"Two mothers? Were they...romantically involved or just close? I've never had parents... Not that I can remember, I don't know anything about them really..." Ana trailed off into thought, she was still sad about this, but she supposed you couldn't really miss something you've never had.

"Do you think I could see some of the nano-bots??" She sounded like a curious little kid again.

Her question caught him off-guard. "Romantically involved? Hahahahaha!" He laughed lightly "Everyday was pretty much their honeymoon the way they'd kiss or hold each other." He took another puff. "And as for the nano-bots... That'd be a little tricky but I think I could figure out a way." He leaned back and thought. "Hmmmm...Aaaaahhhhh." He stuck his finger in his mouth and seemed to be digging around for something. He pulled out what appeared to be a tiny spider that was crawling around his arm. Its eyestalks extended and Ana could feel lights going up and down her body. "Ah!" Hivemind shoved it back in his mouth and blushed. "That was a sentry-class. I'm sorry... They constantly collect data on things so... ummm... I'm sorry." He looked up embarrassed "But that's basically what they look like." He flicked up the cigarette and chomped down on it as it fell into his mouth. He then proceeded to swallow it. "Sorry guys... Can't find a source of electricity to tap into so this'll have to do." He smiled "Its like feeding pets."

Ana's mouth was agape and she looked as if she was shocked or horrified, but then her face suddenly burst out into an amazing grin.
"That is so cool!" She blushed and calmed herself, she really could be hypo, but she didn't want to embarrass herself.

"A sentry-class? What does that mean? Why are you sorry? Do they live inside you? Or would that hurt? Did you create them or-" She shut her mouth, realising that she was getting over excited again. "Sorry..."

"What were your mums like?" She decided maybe she should try to look vaguely normal and change the subject. She was sure she was blushing.

'How embarrassing! Argh I can be such a child... Oh well, if these people are going to have to work with me I guess they should now about my irratic moods...'

Hivemind laughed "You're something else, you know that? Most people just get stuck on my parents being lesbians. No they were very kind to me. They picked me up off the street when I was... I can't even remember anymore. But Alicia was always very sweet to me, I don't think it was pity though. I think she was just a really kind person. And Karen..." He paused. "Karen is an ex-mercenary, so she was very strict with me but she taught me to fight and to control my nano-bots. She had them too. Her's were also acquired by mistake."

He took a breath and the blush came back. "Sentries take data measurements, analyze what things are made of and well...filter threats for me. And yes they do live inside of me, they keep my organs in tip top shape and do a lot of others stuff. But no... I didn't create them. I was..." He paused. "Infested when I was young. I was a test subject for an experimental cure for powers. It worked... but now I've got these guys to keep me company... But it still doesn't stop most people from ignoring me..." He laughed again and fished out a picture of his mothers for her to look at.

Ana smiled as she took the photo from him. The women were very pretty, one looked a little butch, so she guessed that must be the ex-mercenary.

"I don't really see why people get caught up with things like that. Being gay isn't a crime, two people love each other and that should be the end of the story..." Ana sighed. "When I was training with the white mages, we were trained to deal with these sort of things, the nano-bots... I could remove them for you, but they seem to be connected to your life energy, they are working with your body, not against it. Some cases, well some end badly..." She trailed off in thought. "You're very lucky in that case, and so is your mother if they reacted the same way..."

Ana's smile turned bitter. "Test subject.... I know how it feels to be treated like a disposable experiment..." she trailed off and smiled at Abhaya. "Oh well, I suppose it's all in the past, right?"

Hivemind gave her a sympathetic smile. "Ah, but that's the beauty of life. Thanks to them throwing us out we were able to further our lives instead of spending them in some cage hooked up to an IV drip. As for the gay issue... Well let's just say I've come to expect that Karen and Alicia are a tad disappointed that I didn't turn out quite like that." He laughed he took the picture gently and placed it in his pocket. "Sooo... now that I've answered your questions... You oughta answer mine." He turned to face her. "Who are the white mages?"

Ana stared at Abhaya wide eyed for a moment. No one had ever asked her about the white mages before, no one had even asked her about her past.

"Well, they are ancient beings... I was adopted into their presence because I was found dying as an infant near their hide away... The elder that saved me used all of her life energy to heal me... She died saving my life..." Ana was thoughtful, and careful not to divulge the secrets she had promised to keep to protect her people. "They taught me what they could and raised me as their own, but even to me they are still a mystery..."

"I remember them telling me when I was very young that life energy flowed through the planet, they were sent to protect and heal this energy... When I was saved, that elder's energy was passed into me, as well as her powers. They said that all beings are created and destroyed by the coursing of the planet's life energy, but I've never been able to feel any energy coming from the planet itself..." She pulled up one of her gloves to reveal a white scar on her wrist. "They said I was a chosen one. A human to heal others... That's why I have my powers I suppose."

"Is there anything else you want to know?" She asked, it was the first time she'd spoken about the people that raised her, and it seemed odd that she had so much trouble explaining them. Perhaps her memory was fading, or maybe one of their enchanments was making her forget...
