Ana stood quietly next to Ashe, not making eye contact with any of them. She wanted to speak with Oliver, but she wanted it to be private. The only way to make him understand why she had become so defensive was to share parts of her past with him...

That wasn't going to be easy... She would have to wait for Ashe to finish his piece first...
She briefly looked up to see if Alex and Magus were still present, somehow she felt that they wouldn't let Oliver hurt her feelings again.

'Sometimes I really do act like a fragile little girl... I wonder what the future me is like... I bet she's stronger... At least... I hope she is..' thinking of this possibility Ana couldn't help but smile a little.

Magus made eye contact with Ana as soon as she entered the room with Ashe. When she and Ashe stopped, he dug into the folds of his cloak, and took out a pen and a small bit of paper that he could write a note on. He scribbled for a few moments, then put the pen away. He folded the paper into fourths, tossed it into the air, snapped his fingers, and it appeared in Ana's pocket.

would I be able to feel the paper, or is it something I shouldn't acknowledge yet? Silly question maybe, but I just want to make sure ^_^

Ana watched as Magus quickly scribbled something on a piece of paper. He clicked his fingers and suddenly the piece of paper was gone.
She felt something in her pocket in that second, and having gotten a fright she pulled it out.

It was the piece of paper. It read;

Charmer was it? I've got your back. Whatever happens I will do my best to keep Oliver in check. I would also like you to remember that I keep an open-door policy. Anytime you wish to talk, just keep an image of me in your thoughts while saying my name three times out loud "Magus Ex Machina".

Ana's eyes became wide... 'Does he really mean that....? She looked back at Magus, her mouth slightly agape... No one had ever said anything like that to her before...
Not even the white mages... She was touched that someone would offer to look out for her, but she couldn't help but be suspicious... She remembered what her mentor had told her when she was training to use white magic;

"You wear your heart on your sleeve child, and it is easier wounded that way..."
Ana didn't want to get her hopes too high in case they were dashed once more

Seems as good excuse as any to get away from Oliver.

"If it does," Magus answered, "Maybe the receptionist would know. If you don't mind, I could spar with you."

"I don't think you did," Magus told him, "Most of my abilities may... seem like magic. But for now... I was thinking we could just start off with weapon sparring."

Magus followed Alex to the armory.
"Okay...," he said, "This'll have to be fairly quick, I need to get back to keep an eye on Oliver. I don't like how he seems to be treating Charmer." Magus finished with an oddly protective tone.

Magus lifted his staff into a diagonal defensive position, and circled around Alex. He occasionally jerked the ends of his staff as though he were going to attack, testing Alex's defenses.

SOMEONE'S got a short attention span. Ah well, I guess I'll deal with this. Umbra stayed in the room with Paragon. "Sorry about Magus's distractedness. I suppose you have some things you'd like to ask, so I can answer for him," she said, followed by a muttered,"Short-sighted idiot..."

If I'm going to be an effective mediator, I need to work out this sudden anger I feel towards Paragon... in a relatively harmless setting... I... I don't want to risk losing control...

Magus performed a long series of aggressive feints and flurries with his staff, spinning his staff from move to move with a practiced elegance. Then, quite suddenly he stopped, and turned to return to the group in the lobby. "We're done with this for now, thank you. You are quite skilled.

I'm hurrying back, Umbra.

Magus rejoined the group in the lobby to find that no one had apparently moved.

What did I miss? I'm sorry about that Umbra... I just didn't want this sudden anger I felt towards Oliver over how he treated Charmer to cloud my judgment... I might have lost control otherwise... if I did... at the very least I would have blown our cover, and at the very worst... someone might have ended up dead.
