My nephews favourite song is that "small potatoes" thing, and that's what's going round my head as I read this. It doesn't matter.

PS3 vs 360 vs PC vs Conservatism vs Liberalism vs Christianity vs Islam vs Man UTD vs La Lakers vs...Fox News.

This is what people are like. Toughen up and get used to it, or go and live in the woods and have the locals fear you. You could have your own legend.

...Hey, it's a choice.

Console gamers typically get a wider array of offerings from the major publishers, fewer bugs from standardized hardware development, far better access to used software, and, generally, a significantly lower entry cost. Prioritizing PC gaming is its own choice, with its own upsides and downsides (expanded upon here and elsewhere, so I won't bother.)

I generally prefer that people make informed choices, but I'm hardly going to hold this one against you.

I'm a PC Gamer and I don't do that shit. That doesn't make the stereotype any less painfully accurate. It does not bode well to ignore the fact that a group you identify with has serious problems.
So I should admit that there is a problem with men because so many commit murder, rape and other crimes?

Should I apologise on their behalf too?

Or should I accept that people are individuals, and having similarities does not mean you can just lump them all together and go "Clearly this group is a problem, even though many of them aren't like it"?

If you don't desire all of the graphics, then you are most certainly not a true leet gamer like us.

I think that both platforms have their obvious strengths and weaknesses
on Console you get a very straightforward interface which pretty much guarantees a functional game
on PC you have to fiddle with it sometimes, but you get prettier games, modding, ect.
now, the problem I have with PC is that since it is such a diverse platform, there is really never a guarantee that the game will work. bear with me, i'll explain.
I don't have a twenty zillion dollar gaming rig, but my computer can run pretty much anything I ask it to on low to medium settings, but a friend of mine has a really old graphics card on his otherwise powerful machine, and this has led to many problems. for example, he can't see many of the enemies is Diablo 3. I mean, they just aren't there on his screen! that's ridiculous!
he'll just get killed by an invisible enemy. Is that blizzard's fault? the argument can be made for both sides, but all of this leads to my point, a PC is all well and good, but with shoddy ports, technical errors, and compatibility problems, there is no guarantee that the game you bought for 60 bucks is actually going to work if you have a low to mid range PC.

Because console players are complete saints. There are never stupid, loud or ignorant console players ever, right? Personally, the ones who like to generalize PC gamers are being a group of asswipes fall within that stupid, loud and ignorant group.

Generalizations hoooo.
Basically this.

Stop blaming all PC gamers for the faults of a small, vocal group already.
We have this kind of discussions every so and so years. Right after the console cycle has begun/ in the middle of it, we have some console tards claiming pc gaming is dead and near the end of the cycle we have so pc gaming tards that claim that consoles are holding graphics etc back.

It all boils down to kids, who can't afford to have more than one system and are really trying to convince themselves that they picked the right one.

(I have a PC and PS2/3 and love all of them equally, although all those fights are a bit redundant, since the gameboy advance, the best system ever, was already created)

You know what the sad part is?

One Minute: GAMES FOCUS TOO MUCH ON GRAPHICS!
Next Minute: THIS GAME NEEDS 4024x4024 TEXTURE MODS ON EVERYTHING! EVEN THE PILLOWS!

One Minute: I HATE DRM!
Next Minute: THIS GAME ISN'T ON STEAM! WTF?!?!?!
(kinda valid, BUT DON'T EFFING GENERALIZE LIKE THAT GEEZ)

One Minute: GAMES NEED TO BE LONGER THAN 6 HOURS!
Next Minute: LET'S BOYCOTT THE ONLY MAJOR COMPANY THAT MAKES REALLY LONG GAMES ANYMORE BECAUSE OF ENDINGS AND SHIT!

Why are PC gamers so fucking inconsistent...
The first and the third could also be said by console gamers, I don't see this is a pc specific problem that people are graphic whores or generally want long games that also are good, Jesus Christ on a Bicycle

I find it amusing the so many PC gamers use the PC's better graphical capabilities as a big argument against consoles... I am a very hardcore PC gamer and I don't care about graphics in the least, I find that companies spend way too much time and money on graphics as is... and not enough time on gameplay and story. My top 3 games right now? Space Station 13, FTL and Mount and Blade Warband (cRPG mod).

anyways. Play whatever you want on whatever system you can and enjoy the hell out of it. I still love consoles for playing games together with friends in the same room because lugging my PC around is a big pain in the ass. Plus... Consoles got Dokapon kingdom... that alone makes them worthwhile.

You see, it's an attitude like this that's given gamers the second worst reputation in the world. Just above the United States and just below Christianity. Nobody wants to admit there's a problem with how we behave. We all just love to throw around the bullshit self-justification of "We're not all like that!"

A few people acting like that does not excuse those that do. And if you decide to pull up the attitude of "Well clearly not EVERYONE behaves that way, so we should just ignore those that do" are even worse. They want us all to engage in some grand game of make believe that gamers are amazing, when we aren't.

We have too big of a capacity for whining fits, elitism, sneering at new players, screaming and raging at pretty much everything, and above all acting like spoiled, self-entitled bastards who think thievery is our right.

This is all a problem. A serious problem. And if you think it isn't, you probably do it yourself.
Whereas your issue is to equate this:

Somebody says that not all people behave this way = They think it's okay for those who do.

Please explain where I said anything remotely like that in my comment above, because that is basically what you just accused me of.

For the record I have an Xbox, Playstation 3 (just recently got one) and a PC. The PC is about two years out of date so I only really play Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft. So yes, your assumption that I am an elitist is well founded. Congratulations. You got me.

I would NEVER play an RTS on a console, excepting Future War, which uses my bluetooth headset to issue commands (And don't I feel like a badass telling Tank A to engage enemy unit 1...). Then again, I used to ONLY play Rainbow Six on PC, too... Now I do all my shooting and driving on my PS3, and leave my laptop for watching TV, emulators and facebook. If I had to choose between gaming on my PS or my laptop, I would take my PS3 and Gran Turismo 5 or whatever Flying Game du jour is out over Sins of a Solar Empire (really the only game I play on my laptop that isn't an emulator). Also, Rainbow Six Patriots will still run on my PS3, not sure my two year old laptop is UP to pushing it as HD as I would want to run the graphics. (4 gigs of RAM isn't bad, but I doubt R6:p will be optimized for a triple core processor, and that means I am really running just short of 3 gigs of RAM on the two cores.)

Personally, until there is a way to get a 32+ inch HD screen to compress into a carryable size and weight, Console gaming is invincible. There will always be guys like me who think True HD on a 60" TV is better than Semi-HD gaming on a 17" Screen. (My laptop does 1080p, but if my graphics settings have to be reduced to prevent lag, I am not running true HD, am I?)

Besides, it was just two years ago that "PC Gaming was dying!"
I'm not sure if you're talking about specifically your laptop or PC gaming in general, but you do realize that you can plug your PC into most HD TV's right? Also- most console games don't actually output 1080p. Usually you're actually getting 720p on consoles, if I'm not mistaken. Also most console games' graphics settings are stuck at the lowest end PC graphics settings. I could go on :p

Anyway, I do most of my gaming from my PC which has dual 22" 1080p monitors (one of which is a TV) and I couldn't be happier with it. But yeah- I wouldn't be able to do that with my old laptop, so if you don't have a big desktop rig or a ridiculously expensive gaming laptop, it's not ideal.

Uhm, so we're all to blame that some people are misbehaving, I'm sorry, but I can't quite follow you.

It's like saying that all humans are to blame for the first two, who ate an apple that they weren't allowed to eat :p

Also I think most gamers are amazing, the more vulgar ones will grow up eventually, plus you always will have a certain percentage of idiots in any given group, there is nothing you can do about that

IDK what forums you've been visiting but from my experience it seems like the 360 vs PS3 wars are much more frequent and hard (or at least were) than PC gaming vs console. Also to address another point, you don't need a super computer to play pc games. I got $450 laptop for school with decent specs and it plays like every new game just fine. Granted I'm not maxing out my settings but everything works.

Captcha: gee whiz
Even captcha is tired of these arguments lol

If anyone calls you stupid or a bad person, or not a "true gamer" because you game on a console, they're just being stupid themselves.

Certainly PCs have technical improvements and advantages over consoles. But this doesn't mean that PC gamers have free reign to browbeat console gamers because of it.

This coming from a PC gamer.
Pretty much this. I like both PC and consoles, I just can't afford to have both right now. So I built a gaming rig. Maybe I'll buy the WiiU... I haven't decided yet.
