My friend said that in the next one that you might be able to drive cars, you will eventually run out of gas, and if you come across a gas station you can refuel and start driving some more.

Well they just announced the 2nd will be coming this year (which means L4d is not even a year old).

I would like to say a BIG F*** YOU to Valve for giving me a game that they really never meant to develop for more than 5 unique levels, for a full priced game. And another Congratulations! to Valve for joining the "not consumer friendly" big time companies that squeeze money out of their costumers.
Don't bother making L4D better. After all it is very hard to add new guns, characters and maps...no wait, it isn't! Amateurs with no coding knowledge even make them!

Hmm, maybe giving you at least a second reaction time on expert. Having a smoker reveal themselves and strangle you in the same nano-second is BS. Plus, there could be a character creator, y'know, to add more immersion to it, like you're in it yourself...or the ability to see your feet.

I guess that could give more use to the gasoline tanks you find.

To be honest it's just a mod.

It's the sort of game I would expect to be free with a compilation like Orange Box. (Not that I'm saying it's not a great game)

I don't see the point in a sequel, they might as well just expand on it with DLC or something...

Ideas:

How about a fucking storyline!!!!
More weapons
Unlocks
etc. etc.

I don't know, left 4 dead was just such a repetitive game for me. Hold yourself up in a room, gather explosives, kill tanks, rinse and repeat.

It cost me ?50 to buy Left 4 Dead and it was a pretty good game, as long as you make use of the co-op. (Do I need to produce that sentence in large, bold letters, no? Good.)
What I'd like is better servers, there was the odd bit of lag whenever I go online.

More campaigns, weapons, modes and a new version of the Source engine, Left 4 Dead had some degrading graphics and frame rate issues, I wouldn't mind waiting for a new Source engine.

Well L4d is a great game and idea, the survival mode and the co-op is interesting, well at first. I would play L4d right now but there is almost nothing to do at the moment, because of the RAGE quitting and the lack of longevity. Left 4 dead does not need to have a sequel, or new content at the moment, it needs a way to fix the RAGE quit problem with a good matchmaking system (even though I heard it is coming out I heard.) We need to make use of the content there already is. DLC is the way to go after the original issue is fixed, but the game is great for the short time it was working before the massive rage quit outbreak.

Some more weapons. Even though they all are really good balanced, it is just a big bowl of blandness getting eaten each time someone plays.

Let's recap:
-Pistol. Shoots bullets.
-Dual pistols. Shoots two bullets.
-Uzi. Shoots many bullets.
-Assault rifle. Shoots many bullets, accurate.
-Hunting rifle. Shoots accurate bullets.
-Shotgun. Shoots SHELLS!
-Auto-shotgun. Shoots shells faster.
+Molotov cocktail. Makes fire lol.
+Pipe bomb. Homes zombies in and makes a strategic explotion (wich is great.)

Maybe some more diverse/unique weapons, like the pipe bomb? Maybe something like a chainsaw (old idea, but still awesome) that runs on gas, it's lighter companion (similar to the uzi/assault rifle), the powerdrill. Maybe a heavyer jackhammer?
Or maybe a campaign special weapon? Like, your running through a museum, and you can take down a old Thompson or a Springfield rifle? That would eat me away.

Valve should not be blamed for the rage quitters, people themselves are the problem there. I'm more than happy with L4D as it is now, since i have 7 other people i regularly play with, usually every afternoon.

Primarily, I hate Valve's new direction in shading for Left 4 Dead 2 (Yes, the SHADING is my biggest concern, I'm alright with everything else). You see, there are a few key similiarities of the shading in Left 4 Dead 2 (at least, from what we saw in the teaser) to Team Fortress 2. To highlight these concerns, I took a few screenshots and made a contrasting image.

You'll notice the very similar shading on their arms. And if you OWN a copy of TF2, I suggest you listen to Developer commentary on the map cp_well, there's a segment with the heavy that talks about how this particular type of shading is very key into making it LOOK VERY CARTOONISH!!!

Really, I'm as excited as anyone for this game, I can't wait to start chainsawing up zombies or smashing their heads in with frying pans, but my biggest concern is how REAL it's going to look.. L4D took co-op survival HORROR to a new level, because no other game looked this gritty, realistic, and terrifying the first time you step foot in it, and it continues to be surprising and fun-filled even so many months after we've all played four campaigns fifty times over, and it still remains terrifying when it's just you and a hunter, seeing who can kill who first. I hope this teaser was only done to excite our little nerdish glands in our brains, because other than that, it looks like it's not going to be "terror", more like "Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker" with more blood and zombies.

Edit: the way the shading makes it look cartoonish is how sharp it goes from light to dark, with no softness, which obviously looks extremely unrealistic.

Well I think that Left 4 Dead 2 is on the right track with different (new) character designs; but instead of being limited to the four characters the game gives you, having player-designed in-game characters would allow for more diversity, especially during online play. That way, individuals could have the choice between the predicted 'background story' behind the characters, or themselves blasting zombie a$$.

The whole reason they made it not so scary is because if it was then they would be called zombies and if you read the wikipedia article on left4dead they said that they are not zombies but they are infected humans which are still alive unlike zombies which would be dead and also if they WERE zombies then there would me millions of survivors not just four but yes it does make sense when you say then when we find a survivor in the closet it should be a new one and it is also true that they should allow us to have a custom character and maybe we start at like 4 survivors then as the story goes on, there will be more survivors found and maybe make some of them just children with knives, pistols or penknives. And adding on to that there should be like 20 cillivans who are compleately useless and can get infected or start with a test gunnia pig that got infected in a lab then infected everyone. Also more wepons would be good. And also i think i found out why they called it leftFOURdead cause there are only four survivors so yeah

I would like to see instant replays. Yes, I know you can record a demo from the console, but they need to make it more easily accessible, like allowing you to replay the last 10-15 seconds before you die. There are some serious LOL moments in VS mode that would suit this...

Valve needs to get some realistic clothes for these people. i know they need to incorporate archetypal colors and everything, but some actual clothing stores would be nice ie- hollister, abercrombie, target, etc...

and another thing- why are they all dressed casually?? is no-one in the south rich enough to afford a suit?
just sayin
