This thing is weird at first. Shit-your-pants weird. But I honestly think it looks a little ridiculous after you get over the initial shock of it's "South park canadian" style head. If they'd made it less of a perversion of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz it would have probably been permanently scarring. But yeah, this is still the first time I've ever seen the cheap gory-weirdness scare actually put to such jarringly effective use.

I'm beginng to think l4d2 is going to be a cartoon with all these weird new specials and uncommon commons. Adds variety but undermines the seriousness somewhat.

It wasn't serious to begin with, the series is meant to be a homage to Zombie flicks.

I meant the seriousness of the original. I don't mind a change in direction but the gore is somewhat contrasting with the cartoony zombies. Maybe, like shaun of the dead, it's meant to be that way but it just strikes me as a wee bit odd.

I think Left 4 Dead 2 is going to be a less serious game all round. Though, that may just be the first campaign, the parish. I think each one is getting more of a separate feel this time. The parish is slightly more jokey, with zombies wearing Hazmat suits, southener music mixed in with the left 4 dead theme, a crescendo event where you activate a festival float ect.

Swamp Fever looks like a darker, more serious affair. The uncommon infected for that area are pretty scary (mudmen, they walk on all fours) it's set at night and it looks a lot more scary.

That's what I think anyway. I wouldn't mind L4D2 being less serious, it became a pretty hilarious affair anyway with all your friends online, doesn't mean it isn't scary.

Yeah, maybe they're including serious levels and not so serious ones in game but keeping the characterisation straight is going to be a bit of a challenge. I know that, like the last one, they'll probably be stereotypes but having them trying to be humourous one minute and worried the next is going to be difficult. But I don't mind it being less serious either, I'll wait and judge it by its own merits.

That just makes it more disturbing, becuase you think it would be funny but you have to deal with the fact that if you see it in l4d it's gonna be trying to kill you.

Anyway you know they are going to make The Swallower which will no doubt be kinda like a pitcher plant. Will fit right in with the swamps.
Anyway I just can not wait till the Basilisk arrives. They nabbed most the stuff from Zombie Hunters and just changed it so basilisk wont be far behind.
Even Chet Faliszek admitted they really suck at naming things.
