I've gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with the new features Valve is introducing in L4D2. They really took a look at the flaws in L4D and worked on fixing them.
Other recent announcements that you may or may not have heard about:
It was announced that ammunition kits and adrenaline are being introduced as replacements for health kits and pills. Not replacements in the sense that health kits and pills are getting the boot, but in the sense that you can choose either health kit/ammo kit or pills/adrenaline (although apparently health kits in Versus are being removed for balance reasons).
My speculation regarding this is that ammo won't be nearly as plentiful this game as it was in L4D. The reason I think this is not only the inclusion of the ammo kit, but because there wouldn't really be a practical reason for using melee weapons over shotguns otherwise. Plus, the need to preserve ammunition compliments survival/horror games well.
Oh, and speaking of melee weapons, they are apparently going to work nicely when used with adrenaline, as adrenaline will apparently make you melee faster, remove the fatigue, and let you rush through zombies without them slowing you down.
I'm really excited about this game based on some of the new features. The only thing I'm not completely sold on is the characters. With the possible exception of Coach, they just don't seem nearly as lovable as Louis, Francis, Zoey, and Bill were. But, knowing Valve, they'll probably change my mind.
