What you did was fine.

Now, assholes who join games just to teamkill for no reason are just stupid. I mean why the fuck would you want to do that? And they laugh like it's the funniest thing they've ever done.

It's the zombie apocolypse my good man. Better to put them out of their misery then let the brain munchers get them.

On the up side, this topic raises a few good points.

On the down side, they're all reasons to further avoid the game.

Actually, I would have said killing the downed guy on the second level was the smart option. If the person who is incapped has no medkit (doesn't matter about molotovs, pipe bombs, pills or guns), saving them is too much of a risk and is also bad resource managing.
If you pick them up they have 30 health ticking down, making them too fragile to be useful, or they'll use a medkit to get back to 80, meaning you're already one medkit down at the start of the next level. Leaving them to die means they'll respawn at the start of the level at a non-bleeding 50 health, plus they'll have a medkit to use later on. Any equipment they lost because of this will be easy to replace, especially in the last few levels.

I think that it was totally justified

In fact, usually if my group is just near a samehouse with a horde and tank on our heels and I get brought down, I always yell for them to leave me behind and just finish the level. Sadly most of the time someone tries to be a hero and save me, but they usually end up dying, so I end up feeling bad.

I've teamkilled with molotovs so often i've lost count, i've slammed doors in my friend's faces more times than I remember, and i've done basically everything else to grief, screw over and generally have a massive laugh at the expense of my friend's health - but they're usually doing the same stuff to me so its all fair (although no direct shooting) :D
We're good players, so we all manage to make it surprisingly frequently even on vs
That's different, though. I do that too with the people I regularly play with, and it's all fun and games. This was done because they were just plain pissing us off, so there was kind of a "screw you" component.

You know what i do when my team sucks and everyone runs off does there own thing or starts killing each other and yelling profanities and insults. I leave and find a better team. Team killing is just fuel to the fire. It solves nothing.
Exactly what I do if I drop in on a game by myself, but I was coordinating with the other player, so we would've more or less had to start another lobby. It ended up being a good game, and the diversion of taking care of the other two kind of added to the fun.

You know, there is quite a bit of body language even in L4D, so, whenever I'm with a mic-less team, or don't feel like wearing my head set, I pay attention. I've actually had better scores without communication than I have had with it. (on xbox)
Douche bags will be douche bags, if you have to "make a statement", you're a douche bag. Sorry, you crossed the line.
I completely agree with your strategy, and do that when we're playing with mic-less- including this time at the start. Generally things do go well, but these guys were also losers. Either way, I appreciate the lack of word-mincing.

come on, seriously? You think that's bad? That isn't bad, you didn't cross any lines.
No, but it seemed like a pretty good story and made for some decent discussion. I also went back and edited to give credit.

I think mics vs. non-mics killing is just a wee bit silly plus you have a kick function. Killing people that suck is counter productive we were all crap once upon a time (if you were never crap stop spanking the monkey and get a life). However this behavior pails in the face of something much more annoying. What I have been seeing more and more of, especially in expert games, and I hope I'm not going off thread here, is random killing. I have seen people jump into late stages of games kill people and then jump out. I recently got shot in the back after getting onto the plane in Dead Air. Why?, I guess the player thought he/she/it was funny. I didn't, not after playing for an hour to get their. The reality comes down to this, in game world they are no penalties. This guy shoots me in the back and there is nothing I can do about it. Importantly this encouraging others to do the same who figure it happened to them so it's fine to do it to someone else (as it does cross my mind when it it happens to me). Ultimately this ruins it for everyone, who want's to play a game when random knuckle head can jump in, negate your efforts, laugh and leave and if you TK newbies you're teaching them what they now assume to be accepted behavior +1 more knuckle head to jump in and f#$kup your game.

Well in a game like L4D Mics are'nt as important as in other team based games the reason being the quick chat menu thingy that has your character your playing as talk but otherwise Mics definatly make things easier.

This is totally justified. Idiots will NOT survive when some jacked-up shit like this happens in real life.

Me and my 2 other L4D buddies play alot, finding another decent teammate is hard but the beauty of L4D is if you don't like a teammate you can vote to kick him!

-Yes. They were just hapless little noobs and you gunned them down mercilessly. Every nice person has an inner douchebag though, so don't feel too bad.
-Does sound kind of funny.
-Why didn't you just let the infected finish him off?
-With a molotov. There have been two groups I would have done something similar to if I were quicker on the draw. Of course I consider them the DBs for the griefing/votekick that I was on the wrong ends of.
-I think the fact that you're even asking means yes.

They didn't have mics so I guess you could say that's your way of saying something. You did nothing wrong, because they didn't know how to play the game, didn't follow you (so they didn't know of the former problem), and they didn't seem to care about the game that much. I think that the game offers way too much for grievers, and nothing will stop the flow of stupid.

Tangenting on an experience of mine, I played a quick campaign game with a buddy. We entered the party and there were two guys in the game. We were in a LIVE party with a couple of our other friends, so we didn't talk to them. In the game, we did it all pretty well; the guys were slow, but got the message that zombies killed isn't an important thing and they followed us to the saferoom we were already in. The next leg, (No mercy 2) however, we got to the crescendo event, killed all the zombies in the room, then opened the door.

Our teammates started shooting us and we could see they were trying to communicate, so we invited them to the party when which they immediately started screaming unmentionable words to us in sentence we THINK were involving the door. They said they were "gonna kill all them ******* zombies before we went on so there wouldn't be any **** zombies to ****** kill!!" They were southerners (not a problem) but were about 8 years old. We jokingly told them that the "zombies" were infected, which caused the flames to rise higher. They shot us in the game, but we killed them in self-defense and went on through the level. The problem with this is the fact that they haven't played the game very much because CE's attract infected that aren't already there. It was funny and my friends heard it too so we all laugh at them to this day.

-The Questions-

- Have I crossed the line and become a team-killing douchebag based on these two morons who's misery I helped put them out of?
- Does it help that I was laughing my ass off as I threw the molotov?
- Was it justified? - We did fire the first shot.
- If you raise the douchebag flag, then how would you handle it? (Can't kick- it would be 2 vs 2)
- Do I have to trade in my high horse for something else now...like a pony?

1 You didn't cross the line they weren't willing to listen to people who know what they're doing and deserve to quit until they'll either A, Learn or B, LISTEN!
2 I woulda laughed too (lol)
3 Yea it was pretty justified they wouldn't um...do the two L's as a I stated before...
4 I'd handle the douchebag flag by team-killing if I can't kick them or grief them until they leave...Oh wait that is what I do...Hm.
5 Trade in your high horse for a Monster Truck damnit. Seriously that'd kick ass.

EDIT: Actually y'know what, think of it from their point of view. They're new players and they were struggling damnit. D:.
