LEGO Indiana Jones follows the adventures of the first 3 movie in LEGO form (duh). This game was made pretty much because of the success of the LEGO Star Wars franchise and if you ask me, LIJ doesn't "stack up" to LSW 1 or 2 but is still a pretty good game. When I was playing through Raiders, I kinda got bored and started to question when is this gonna end. I pressed on anyway and made it through that part of the game which is kinda perplexing because my reaction to the game was about the same as my reaction to the actual movie. Don't get me wrong, Raiders is a good movie but it isn't as good as Last Crusade.
Then I played through Temple of Doom, slightly boring but it was fun. After I played that part of the game, I watched Temple of Doom because unlike everybody else, the only Indy films I've seen before getting this game were Raiders and Crystal Skull, and let's get one thing strait, I loved Crystal Skull because unlike every other Indy fan, I go to movies to watch and be entertained, I don't compare the movie to the previous movies in the series (if in a series) and nitpick how it isn't like the others and get pissed. Anyway, Temple of Doom was awesome, great movie. LEGO adaption in the game, decent.
And then there's the Last Crusade, for this one I decided to watch the movie first and I f*****g loved it. Best of the 4 Indy movies. And I had fun playing through the last part of the game. I was, however, disappointed with this part of the game since it didn't let you play through the opening sequence in the movie where they had a young Indiana Jones, but whatever. There are those crazy technical glitches that don't really affect game play but is still an eyesore.
One thing I noticed about this game is that there are similarities between this game and the recent Grand Theft Auto games. You can use any of the vehicles that in the area and like GTA 4, the motorcycle is the most fun to use. When you defeat an enemy that uses a weapon (i.e. pistol, shotgun, sword, bazooka) you can pick it up and use it against your enemies until you throw it, run out of ammo, or pick up something else. That's not the case when you create a character that uses the sword, guns, etc. You can ALWAYS use the damn thing.
All and all, LEGO Indiana Jones is a good adventure game. Enough to distract Wii owners from Super Smash Bros. Brawl but not enoughI guess how you react when watching the movies affect how much fun you had playing the game. Maybe that's why I love LEGO Star Wars more than this game. If they made a sequel that allows you to play through Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and some of the Young Indiana Jones episodes, I'd buy it. At the title screen of this game, there is a preview for LEGO Batman, I'm getting that game when it comes out, no question.
