I rather enjoyed the lego Star Wars and Indy games and someday I'm going to pick up the lego batman game.

However, when I saw the trailer for Lego Rock Band, even I have to roll my eyes a little. I have nothing againest rock band or the lego games, but for some reason, crossing the two just seems a little silly.

Does anyone else get a similar reaction? If not, at what point would you think that?

That does indeed seem silly and very unnecessary. Of course, I suppose games in general are unnecessary, but that's beside the point

a game making a game from another game? This will surely cause a PARADOX!

I see it as stupid. I mean, look at how many Guitar Hero knock off games have been released this year. It's oversaturation and stupid. I know that it's a different franchise but didn't they just release Beatles Rock Band a few days ago?

The reason that the other Lego games worked so well was because they were platform games built on a cheesy re-working of the original stories.

What is going to be different in Rock Band if its made of Lego? Is it going to be just a visual change, or are the instruments going to sound smaller and more plastic?

It doesn't mean I wouldn't have fun if it was a party and I was drunk, I can hardly see the point.

It is pointless. In my opinion, they should have stopped after the first game, and then keep selling albums and songs from all of the sequels as DLC.

When I saw Guitar Hero 2 come out, all I could think was "What the hell? Why not just sell track packs?" I was okay with Rock Band, because that actually DID something. Like, you know, more content.

And here we are enjoying yet another of the same exact thing but with only The Beatles and next we get the same thing but with Lego guys.

What the fuck?

@ Above: The sad part is is that those WOULD sell millions.

It's mainly for kids(check the track listing), rock bands current art and songlists are made for teenagers/adults and don't really appeal to anyone under the age of 12. I think it's a good thing they're doing and it will appeal to their target audience, but that audience is a bit niche and often low on disposable income. Time will tell if it was a good business move.

Basically, it's not for you, you're welcome to it - but you're as welcome to ignore it as you are any other kids game.

I don't consider the music game genre as oversaturated - because I only buy what I like and everything else may as well not exist. I'm not a fan of Metallica or Aerosmith and a lot of the DLC for both franchises doesn't appeal to me. Let's just say I was glad when Beatles: Rock Band and GH5 finally arrived.

I think it's a great idea that they are making a "kiddie" game in the series, as now we might finally see uncensored songs for the real game. As for it being "Lego" Rock Band, eh, so what.

I don't think Lego Rock Band is a good idea. If they think making Rock Band out of Legos will sell better because its more family - frendly, they are very wrong.

Okay this puts the idea in a different light. I was not considering a game for children before. I know my Niece and Nephew would go mad for it if it had songs from Dora, etc. (I was looking at it from an Adult point of view before).

Ah I think I took the idea a little far, it's not for young kids, more the 8-14 range as best as I can tell. Lots of lovely little melodic songs from the likes of Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Sum 41. I know I'd have loved that tracklist 5 years ago, but come to think of, it does seem a little outdated now. Sum 41 haven't been cool for years. =S

Is it just me that thinks that?

I think the Lego Rock Band mash-up is a bit much. When I first heard of it, I didn't think it was real, but then I saw the trailer at E3...
