It's funny actually, I didn't have any fast food for a month, had a whopper Jr., and it tasted like shit. I haven't had fast food in like 4 months now, and it feels awesome.Klarinette said:Lent starts on Monday. What will you be giving up for it? Pop? Alcohol? Chocolate? Games (lawl)? If you're not religious/Christian and not participating, what would you give up, if you had to?
I'm not religious, but I'm taking this opportunity to stop eating fast food, looking to make it permanent. I've quit a couple times, but I keep going back. I just finished my last fast food meal, and to help, I'm going to write down everything I didn't like about it.

That wasn't a stab at religion I'm genuinely clueless as to why someone would do that.
Pretty much a neat little test of willpower. I find it quite fun, to tell the truth. I'm giving up sports games. (Which, given that I'm addicted to Championship Manager, Eastside Hockey Manager, and Out of the Park Baseball, is more difficult than it sounds.)By observing Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus' withdrawal into the wilderness for 40 days. All churches with a continuous history before AD 1500 observe Lent.
"I give something up every year," Rodriguez said. "This year I've given up smoking, and I seem to be doing a good job at that so far."
In many countries, the day before Lent, these days are often called Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday, Carnival or Fasching, has become a last hoo-rah before the solemnity of Lent.
The Lenten fast is relaxed on the weekends in honor of the Sabbath and the Resurrection, or Saturday and Sunday. The Great Lent is followed by Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday which are feast days.
It is HEALTH. You are feeling HEALTH.Old Trailmix said:It's funny actually, I didn't have any fast food for a month, had a whopper Jr., and it tasted like shit. It's a tradition, I believe. Rooted deep in the lore of Christianity.Douk said:Wait, I don't understand. I have to willingly give up something fun, why?

Wow. That was quick. Ermmmm. I'm giving up celebrating July 4th. At least until lent's over. I'll still not celebrate it afterward. It's about the only war Britiain ever lost.Daystar Clarion said:For lent, I will be giving up lent...
Yeah, Britian was too busy single handedly saving Europe at the time, we didn't have the spare resources to deal with that little uprising.Little Duck said:Amen brother! Testify that!PayJ567 said:I would give up pepsi, and I would die.
