All in all are you're doing is wasting your own money by wasting your own food. The thing about starving people in africa, there is something you could do about it. Nobodies telling you to 'modle' your life around it, but at least you'd be doing something with your most likedly pointless life.
There are different levels of caring. I won't (by your example) force food into myself just because other people may be hungry.
But I won't waste things that could be of use to someone else. Like, I donate all my old clothes are are of good use, to the church down the road, who give them to the homeless.
But at the same time, I don't go too far out of my way to help, because I earn my money by working, as do my family. And working to keep yourself going isn't JUST about earning money, it's also about earning the right to spend your life doing what you like.
