Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the political arena.

Let us assume that we are are in a grand parlour, with comfortable leather armchairs, fine cognac, bowler hats, cigars and a copy of The Times, if you like, you can even have a monocle.

The air is full of banter with words like 'quite', 'capital' and 'Sussex'.

We come to our sanctuary, separate from the vulgarity of the common life to discuss the events of the day.

I say old boys, I do believe that politics is much like sex; its full of scandal, lies and the occasional poppycock suggestion!

Hehawhehaw.

Have you chaps heard of that latest scandal involving Unnamed Local Politician and an Inexplicit Sexual Perversion with Unspecified Mistress, eh? Really distracts us from the real issues doesn't it, fellas?

Oh yes old chap, I dare say it does. Quite hard to stick to budget when he's got the morals of a budgie! Ha ha ha!

Good Lord old fellow! What in the blazes are you going on about with that vile slander. I've known some splendid Budgies.

Scandal (and it's muse, the tabloid filth) are specificalt designed to keep the working classes from being important in modern democarcy.

And thus the Steampunk RP was born...

I daresay that Mr. Obama has the edge on Madame Clinton. I do hope he gets the nomination. His social goals seem progressive and his economic ideas as sound as can be expected in this silly race. On foreign policy he's got the most sensible views, much more so than that maverick, McCain.

*Takes a puff on a hornbill pipe.*

If only things worked out better for my dear Ron Paul...

Politics are like a septic tank: the really big, rank chunks always rise to the top.

American politics are proof we really are idiots. Congress's approval rating is around 13%, and everyone is demanding 'change'. So naturally the three candidates still in the running are currently serving in Congress. I blame reality television and crack cocaine.

Barack Obama says "We can't continue driving our SUVs and eating as much as we want and keeping our thermostats at 72 degrees F (that's 22 degrees C) and expect the rest of the world to say okay, that's fine." So if the change you want is for the UN to decide what automobiles (if any) Americans can drive and how much (and what) we can eat and at what temperature our houses will be maintained, then Obama is certainly your best choice. Just don't expect those new laws to apply to the $1.6 million Obama mansion or the Obama garage and you won't be disappointed.

Personally I default to freedom whenever possible, so I have to say a pox on all their houses. I am SO tired of voting for the lesser evil; you still get evil.

Anyone out there got any good politicians you're not using? Ours are all shit.

Bah, perposterous! They are jolly good, jolly good. Some fellows seem to put an unreasonably high standard on politicians these days, hypocracy this, lies and incompitence that. A shame that there is no trust in authority these days, didn't Bioshock teach you anything?

Oh by the way fellows; I found a pair of pistols at a pawn shop today for around 50 pounds, sorely tempting.

Well, I say! That Kevin Rudd chap has some wonderful intentions for the native peoples of New Holland! Perhaps the slack-jawed middle-class yokels will stop despising him for no god-forsaken reason.

Would anyone like some laudanum? Good for the heart, you know.

I do cast somewhat of a skeptical eye over this Rudd fellow and his populist shennanigans. What is he doing cutting our wealthy baby bonus, my, what if Margret gets pregnant? We'll have to dip into the investment fund to send the horrid thing to the Alps for reformation schooling!

Fie! Bah-Flimshaw upon this Rudd!

Hmm, this Rudd fellow is getting on the old nerves... This 'fuel-watch' scheme of his, preposterous! What of my old Bettsy, what of her oil?

Well I'm sorry to say old chap but the divide created within the party by the two is a blessing from on high for that capital maverick, Mr.McCain. *sips Cognac* If only Mr.Paul worked out...

I daresay the divide appears to bring quite the boost to the presidential race though; the lower class are climbing over themselves to support the candidates. Forgive me if I'm a bit blunt, but I think no other than Obama can bring the change desired by the nation, if the last mid-term election had anything to show. Personally old beans, I wish Dennis Kucinich had had the slightest bit of charisma, as his policies seemed quite agreeable.

Ta ha ha, but look at me, I'm Canadian! Ta ha ha. Ahem. Indeed.

I do say, who let the working-class ruffian in? **Crinkles nose** Yeh gads man, have you just left the pub? My my, you sir do not belong here at all. Guards, escort this man out.

While the chap is a ruffian, I must say that his issue is an interesting one. Though, if the proletarians stop reproducing, what will happen to our cheap labour?

That's quite a buggy-load there, old chap! But I suppose if McCain's as chummy with Cheney as he appears, a shot to the head isn't that unlikely! Ta ha ha! Oh my. Ahem.
