http://www.cracked.com/blog/why-were-obsessed-with-apocalypse/ gotta love cracked :p

this aritcle explains why post-apocalyptic is a popular genre

essentially, its an egotistical thing, we all want to imagine ourselves as the lone-wanderer badass, or to live in a world without the restraints of society

so how do you feel about it?

personally Im guessing the apocolypse wouldnt be awsome at all

1. statistically I wouls probably be dead, what ever the cause

2. I porbably would survive long after, Disease, violence and such

3. lets say I am surviving, do you think I would be wandering around? slaying my enemies thinking DAMN! what a badass I am!

uhh no, It would be a miserable terrifying experence (well depending on alot of things) not some grand adventure

I guess this pose-apocalyptic thing really is a fantasy,...then again is anyone out there DEAD serious about being prepared? about being a post-apocalpytic badass?

EDIT:..oh this may probably turn into "I hate humanity thing" ehhh thats not quite what i men t

Zombie apocalypse, yes. I maintain that a global zombie apocalypse or hostile alien invasion are the only things left that can truly unite the world.

After seeing the ass-hattery of the world, sometimes I do wonder if humanity itself needs to go. But then again, if humanity has a nice strong baseline of goodness - it will inevitably overcome the selfish desires of a warped aspirations of a corrupted few.

Well no, not really. Im a misanthrope, so when I wish for the apocalypse, I wish for EVERYONE to die, including me.

An apocalypse where mankind doesn't die out isn't an apocalypse in my book.

That said, it would be pretty interesting to see if my current survival skills (which are a bit more refined than the average persons since I happen to be interested in the subject) would get me by in the event of such a major catastrophe as nuclear war, a zombie "apocalypse" or whatever. And I do genuinely believe that it would be a lot more interesting than the current state of the world.

if humanity goes, then so does any sense that humanity did any wrong.

Kinda. A small part.

Generally, I know better than to think that'd be something to want... but sometimes, sure.

It's been proven that a zombie apocalypse barely registers as a threat. Sure stretching the fact that such a thing could happen; between the weather, animals, and their own decay, the effectiveness of a zombie horde is severely limited.

As a Christian, Yes, I pray for it every day.
Christian? Prayer?

Aren't you the ones claiming that God has some sort of infinitely complex "divine plan" for exactly everything in existence?

If he does, do you really think that he'd CHANGE that divine plan just because you get down on your knees, clasp your hands together and begs him to? :p

I really, really, really, really, really don't care about the world and it's apocalypse scenario's.

If we die, we die. End of the line, the pizza is no more, we're kaput, kasplatch aliens take over, zombies eating our brains, the ozonelayer crashes down, the sun erupts, the earth's core freezes over etc etc etc.

oh wait, the question was if I -wanted- a apocalypse right?
I suppose I do. At least people won't bug me about sperating the iron clip on my plastic sandwhich bag anymore.

A very small part of me wants to see how I'd handle various apocalyptic scenarios so I could see what kind of man I am when the world ending sh*t hits the fan.

Of course I realize that the likelihood of me not being killed in the initial catastrophe is marginal at best. Even if I did live it would be terrifying and monumentally challenging both physically and mentally with a high chance of leaving me a broken shell of a man. Woot?

Nope. Not at all. No interest in it what so ever. I am quite happy with the luxuries of modern technology. I love the fact that everyday isn't a damn struggle for survival, and that I can interact with people without worrying that they'll betray me and steal my water.

yeah but...but whats the POINT of that? ANYTHING is better than death, we all die eventually, whats the point of humanity dying? non-existance isnt better than what ever we have

Basically. I have a reasonably comfortable life. An apocalypse would fuck all of that up. Besides, if it did happen my degree would be even MORE useless so the last three years of my life would have been a waste... apart from the parties. If the apocalypse happened I'd miss the parties.

It would make me happy. That's all the reason I need.
