Eh, by y'all's standards I'm probably "horrible" at fighting games myself. Ironically one of the best fighting games I'm at is a new one instead of a classic. It's Rachel Alucard on Blazblue. The Blazblue characters have really tiny movelists and so I got used to using her really quickly.
I guess one of the other characters I'm most used to is Ling Xiaoyu. Back in the Tekken 3 heyday, I was really addicted to the game and got really used to using her movelist in cool ways. I bet I was leagues away from anything "pro" or "expert", but I was able to consistently beat all of my family and friends that did play video games, and even against the highest difficulty the game, it felt like I was just dancing around my enemies without any difficulty giving more damage than I took.
Nowadays though I'm just lucky I still remember her movelist. And with the new Tekken game I don't use her at all, but instead Leo. And I'm just not nearly as good at Tekken anymore.
I need to stop worrying about being so open minded and making myself try new things, and instead for once sit down and try to master a fighting game and character. I'm just too busy with playing so many games that I'm not very good at fighting games either I suppose.
