You may have noticed all of the metal threads on the forums lately so I decided to be different. What is your favorite ska band, artist, song, etc? My personal favorite is Pawn Shop by Sublime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX0P7PQEdxU
I don't know how to embed so sorry about the link.

You're really not missing much, it's just pop-punk with brass.
In that case, I'll link to The Boo Radleys as well.

WOW, an music thread that isn't about metal?! What were you thinking?! :p

This means I may have to start a Country thread soon.

OT: I'm not too familiar with the genre, but I do enjoy listening to when I happen to hear it. Do these guys count as Ska? Cos I likes em. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj-xbhAFT-I

They're amazing live. Trust me :)

Also Cat Empire, but they're not altogether ska, kind of multiple genres really.

This thread is physically making me angry.

Here's a song that wasn't written by Californian whiteboys with spikey hair:

We call this "Ska"

I know very little about jazz, so I can't really comment.

Okay, basically, all ska is is jazz dumbed down to average high school horn player status. (Most of it.)

See Streetlight Manifesto for an exception.

Not being complex doesn't make something bad; part of the appeal of ska is its simplicity.
