Chapter 118: From the journal of Stinthad Kekimtobul

I'm getting concerned now. It's late august and the goblins are still here. Seems like they're ready to camp out for the better part of the year. If they're still out there come the end of the month, what fate will befall the dwarven caravan? It wouldn't look good for us to have even more dead merchants lying outside the fort. They might not even make it here though.
Other than that, things are fine...I suppose. I mean there are no immediate threats, but after last month I can't help but feel uneasy.

I...I don't know what the hell I'm doing! I told Franics to operate the pump built next to the lake, and he somehow ends up falling into the lake! What did I do wrong? Why did he fall in? He may be fine, but what if this was magma instead of water? He would have burnt to a crisp! These pumps just don't make any sense to me. I knew I should have paid more attention in mechanics 101.

What the hell!?? When did this happen?!? How!?? Kevlar Eater is inexplicably alone in the caverns being eaten alive by zombie ooze pods! I didn't even tell the Earthen Tomes to go kill those things, so why is he all alone?!? Oh gods, I hope we can save him in time. Being eaten by oozes...what an odd way to go. I can't remember ever having trouble with them before, even the zombie ones.
18th Timber, 1060, Late Autumn
No...we were too late to save Kevlar Eater. By the time the ooze pods had been beaten to a pulp, his body was nothing but a lifeless husk. This is a terrible blunder on our militaries part. I swear they've been acting stupidly incompetent lately, and I'm, not sure why. Maybe it has to do with stress from being locked up inside the fort for so long. Well, today that is no longer going to be a problem.
The merchants have arrived, and while I was concerned over this at first I am now glad to see them. Why? Because the goblins have left! They have conveniently pulled out just before the dwarven caravan arrived. What luck on our part! Now we can finally go back outside!
Oh yeah, the human diplomat is here to. I have no idea why she arrived this late. Maybe she's been here since summer and was just hiding from the goblins?

I think I know went wrong with the pump. It worked just fine, but Franics ended up pumping water so fast that he created a small flood in the area that pushed him into the lake. For future pump practice I should probably have a drainage ditch dug out. Whatever, the pump worked so I guess this was a success. Now to move on to more complex tasks.

Well that was brief. Probably should have done another month, but it was the end of the season and I had a paper to write today. Anyways, I feel the need to point out that my military is acting horrendous. For some reason some of them just stand around doing nothing instead of following the orders. Also I have no idea why Kevlar Eater was alone. I didn't notice until it was too late. Other than that though this month was pretty uneventful, which is nice in a way since I needed a more calm update to write.
