Here's all the soldiers that I believe have earned custom titles.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Wiredoctrines is his surname. Just like FemRoot's is Dwellingpaddle.

Also I noticed that Nomal's last name is Swordlung. Swordlung the Mythical Mile of Combat. Sometimes the RNG produces really good results.

I still think Root is the strongest dwarf we have, just send her alone into the invasion look away for five second (She does not need her eyes to kill) and boom no more invasion.

Also what are Root's stats?

Unfortunately there are no stats that represent adapting to lack of vision or anything similar.

Yeah, because adamantine breaks the game. If you manage to get a soldier in full adamantine, they can be almost impossible to kill depending on the enemy's army composition. I'll give soldiers some adamantine weapons, but I made a personal rule to never use adamantine in armor.

Root didn't seem that special until I saw the grand master fighter skill. Damn.

P.S. I see Your soldiers haven't visited the drowni- I mean the swimming chamber recently.
Also odd to see that Root is a bitchin' animal caretaker.

I don't know why, but the idea of Root being incurably ill makes me genuinely sad. When Root only had one arm and was coated in blood, that was fine, but being incurably blind and rotting makes me sad.

But then I remember, Dorf sounds funny, and all is well.

Yes i love how Root is a great speardwarf and wrestler.
I see two flaws with that 1. is the with the nerfing of adamantine and how hard it is to make it into anything that by the time you have full garb it will be for the dwarf turning off the lights after the circus coming to town. (Maybe so one of the best characters is not killed by blindness)

You need to start using the swimming chamber again as she is getting rusty. How are you planning to take care of them while blind?

Dorf ... Yes it sounds amazing.

These were insteresting updates Kraken! It's always more fun when shit happens. Also, did that first goblin army retreat after beating the kraken? And how the fuck does a kraken manage to walk on land?

Its sad to see a living ledgend like Root walk around crippled. What does blindness affect in the game purely technically? Oh and there were some golden examples of DF's at times hilarious battles in these combat logs. These were my favourite.

"The Secondary Soldi punches The Wanamingo queen in the mouth from behind with her left hand, brusing the muscle!"

Either Wanamingo's have incredibly wide mouths or someone has lurned to throw curve-punches ála the Wanted movie. (But with punches instead of bullets..)

"The Forgotten Beast grabs The Soldier by the lower front tooth from behind with its left upper arm."

And apparently fat stone giants have bicep muscles which function similar to elephant trunks. Good to know.

Okay. I am not impressed.

Does anyone know how I can get my Dorfs in my fortress to actually make themselves some booze? It seems to go like so;
>cannot plant hops seeds: need potash
>cannot make potash: need ash
>cannot make wood burner: my Dorfs are all on strike

Heh. My captcha is "alcohol somethingsomethingsomething"

Chapter 118: From the journal of Stinthad Kekimtobul

__________________________________________________

2nd Timber, 1060, Late Autumn

I'm getting concerned now. It's late august and the goblins are still here. Seems like they're ready to camp out for the better part of the year. If they're still out there come the end of the month, what fate will befall the dwarven caravan? It wouldn't look good for us to have even more dead merchants lying outside the fort. They might not even make it here though.

Other than that, things are fine...I suppose. I mean there are no immediate threats, but after last month I can't help but feel uneasy.

11th Timber, 1060, Late Autumn

I...I don't know what the hell I'm doing! I told Franics to operate the pump built next to the lake, and he somehow ends up falling into the lake! What did I do wrong? Why did he fall in? He may be fine, but what if this was magma instead of water? He would have burnt to a crisp! These pumps just don't make any sense to me. I knew I should have paid more attention in mechanics 101.

12th Timber, 1060, Late Autumn

What the hell!?? When did this happen?!? How!?? Kevlar Eater is inexplicably alone in the caverns being eaten alive by zombie ooze pods! I didn't even tell the Earthen Tomes to go kill those things, so why is he all alone?!? Oh gods, I hope we can save him in time. Being eaten by oozes...what an odd way to go. I can't remember ever having trouble with them before, even the zombie ones.

18th Timber, 1060, Late Autumn

No...we were too late to save Kevlar Eater. By the time the ooze pods had been beaten to a pulp, his body was nothing but a lifeless husk. This is a terrible blunder on our militaries part. I swear they've been acting stupidly incompetent lately, and I'm, not sure why. Maybe it has to do with stress from being locked up inside the fort for so long. Well, today that is no longer going to be a problem.

The merchants have arrived, and while I was concerned over this at first I am now glad to see them. Why? Because the goblins have left! They have conveniently pulled out just before the dwarven caravan arrived. What luck on our part! Now we can finally go back outside!

Oh yeah, the human diplomat is here to. I have no idea why she arrived this late. Maybe she's been here since summer and was just hiding from the goblins?

23rd Timber, 1060, Late Autumn

I think I know went wrong with the pump. It worked just fine, but Franics ended up pumping water so fast that he created a small flood in the area that pushed him into the lake. For future pump practice I should probably have a drainage ditch dug out. Whatever, the pump worked so I guess this was a success. Now to move on to more complex tasks.

Well that was brief. Probably should have done another month, but it was the end of the season and I had a paper to write today. Anyways, I feel the need to point out that my military is acting horrendous. For some reason some of them just stand around doing nothing instead of following the orders. Also I have no idea why Kevlar Eater was alone. I didn't notice until it was too late. Other than that though this month was pretty uneventful, which is nice in a way since I needed a more calm update to write.

Do underground farms not require potash and the like? If so, then stupendous. If not, then my stupid Dorfs remain fixated on not building mah burners.

Underground farms only need to be irrigated with water to make the soil muddy. But if you just make your farms down in the caverns, you don't have to bother with any of that busy work. As my LP has shown, making famrs in the caverns has no drawbacks whatsoever. Absolutely none.

Well, here's how my fortress was going.

Downside: no means of getting drink
Upside: only 7 Dorfs means I can last until the supply caravan
Downside: my population more than doubles due to migrants
Upside: I could use them for faster labour
Downside: none of them work, but the food and drink consumption is still double the safe rate
Upside: I could make an underground farm
Downside: There could be monsters that kill plenty of my Dorfs
Upside: if a bunch of Dorfs die, I can last until the supply caravan

WIN-WIN
