[HEADING=2]Let's Play Fire emblem: Intro & Prologue[/HEADING]

Fire Emblem is a turn-based strategy RPG made by intelligent systems and released in North America on the GBA in 2003. It is the first game in the series to be released outside of japan and is therefore one of the most popular entries in the series in NA. In japan, the game is known as fire emblem: Rekka no Ken (blazing sword). Having grown up with this title, this is my favorite and most played SRPG. I noticed that most people tend to be ignorant of the series' existance, so I have taken it upon myself to LP, this title to spread interest in the series.

who are you?
Sextus The Crazy, or sextus, for short. This is my first LP.

Do you have an update schedule planned?
Nope. It's gunna be turbulent. That said, I'll try to release stuff regularly this week.

After that bit of back story, here comes the game.

I'm Sextus and I know it.

Damn right, it is.

Yay! Forced Tutorials! Don't worry, I won't bore you too much with them.

Select Your Weapon (not that you have a choice).

Handy combat info (mt =might, damage)

Now the bandit attacks...

and is swiftly killed...

Our Heroine's stats (I'll explain these later).

Equipment

boss data

ohh, Batta! You would be more threatening if you weren't a sacrificial lamb.

If you hadn't noticed, Lyn, my ass is on the other side of the map.
If you go down, I'll be half way to Lycia by the time Batta reaches your tent.

Whew..

What's this?...

Hell yes!

Lyn gets a kick-ass level up to boot.

whatevs. I'll just find someone else If you die.

mike hawk in your mouth?

oh. That's fine, too, I guess.

I don't know the first fucking thing about swordplay, so you're on your own.

What! I never said that! Fine, Whatever.

Yes we Can, Lyn the Riveter!

next time... the Plot thickens.
So what do y'all think of the game so far? I plan to cut down on the text-less images. I just wanted you to see animations and such.
Comments and the like are appreciated.
where do I subscribe? I am sold!

Remember when I said that I would cut down on images? Well, there's a lot more text to read, so yeah.
Anyway, here's the chapter.

Who dat?

Brock? Is that you?

I feel like I've seen these guys before, but I can't put my finger on it.

She's not saying anything. That's the sound of her blade being drawn.

This.is.my.angry.face!

Man, ever since the live action movie, Fred Flintstone's fallen on hard times.

How can Lyn and Fred talk if they're on opposite sides of the map?

Sad Fred contemplates life, the universe, and everything.

Hey, no kill stealing! I call of this experience!

Well, we could, but we'd look like total jackoffs if we did.

Permadeath activated!

Weapon ranks (determines useable weapons, E to S)

Transform into a vagina blob!

Remember Sain, swords before sheaths.

Yeah, that D-rank is real impressive.

Weapon Triangle in a nutshell.

When in doubt, exploit the hell out of it.

Sain's inability to spear vagina shaped objects is reflective of his love life.

What?! How?!

Kent is the Frank Grimes to Sain's Homer.

...Yo' Ass ain't worth it.

Take it, Sain! Take it!

Obvious statement is obvious

And suddenly, there was one.

That speech bubble's a bit big.

Ma'am. I am a psychic Detective.

I never said that! I haven't said Shit since we met!

*gasp* okay *gasp* now I can rest.

Question time!
I only plan on using one of the two cavaliers we just got.
So, who should we use?
Sain (good strength) or Kent (a bit faster and much more skillful)?
Go with Sain. Though I have to ask, what sort of name is that? My dyslexia made me think he was named "Satin" for a while.

Anyhow, what screencap program are you using?

I don't think membranes existed back them, but the point remains the same.

The screen cap program I'm using is called "VBA's built-in one".
I see. I personally used Debut video capture software. It's really fast because it auto-saves the images. But then again, I don't know how the VBA's one works.
the default screen cap key is F12. I don't know if it does auto. I know that it save the images to whatever folder VBA's in and every time you boot it up again, it starts the names all over [(file name)1, (file name) 2, etc.] and over rights ones that have the same name.

Don't know, I don't have much experience with that stuff. Just check the thread regularly and you should be fine.

I'd say go Kent, simply because Sain annoys me. I recall playing this game, don't know how far I got... Up to upgrading the big guys class into huge guy. Vague, I know. Been a while. Anyway, not bad so far. Some advice, the amount of scrolling is annoying. Maybe put the images in a row if you're not commenting after one, like below. Also, put an archive in the OP. Either by putting each instalment up there as well as a new post, or simply linking to each instalment post.

I always liked Sain better. He always ended up getting more kills than anyone except Lyn when I played.

Really, Legault? He doesn't get his promotion item till late in the game and by then Guy still outclasses him.

If we're talkin' beasts, Nino and Dart are both real good.

Maybe, maybe. I'll be asking for user input through out, so feel free to suggest what characters to use.

Yeah Legault isn't all too great. And Nino has Fantastic stat growths but I found tossing her in so late in the game was just too much a pain to work with. And yes Dart is good ungodly Zerker

[HEADING=2]Let's Play Fire emblem: Chapter 2: Sword of Spirits[/HEADING]

After Last chapter's plot dump, here's a shorter, less plotish chapter.

I smell a tourist trap.

oh those Silly Pagans, with their false idols and immorality.

St. Elimine church [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CrystalDragonJesus]

Bullshit. No one actually thought this during the medieval era

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away.

I've come for your blue-eyes, old man, and I won't take no for an answer!

Legendary Sword, Trading card, same thing really.

Use a weapon in combat? What sort of ridiculous nonsense is this? I'll have none of it!

Glass's Memetic badassery is peerless.

Or just brood on this conveniently placed throne.

Which none of them can use.

It already happened.

being the tactician, I recommend rapid cavalry insertion. We enter, clear the room, take the target, and leave as quickly as possible.

Hey, I'm the tactician here! If you're going to plan everything, then why should I bother to stick around?

Whatever. I guess recon and intel gathering are sort of important.

Don't act like this was my idea!

You again? We already talked to your useless ass.

Cliffnotes: Fire Emblem NPCs

This will soon turn into...
...this.

Of course, I do, as is expected from anyone who played this game.

Heroism time! Screw you, weapons triangle!

Bitchen. At this rate, you'll cap every stat.

Frankly, a pretty good one.

much better.

Although, being a promoted class, I could easily defeat any of these ruffians in 1 or 2 rounds of combat.

So all that spirit stuff was a load of crap? It was you stopping the unsheathing all along?

Do you perhaps have a cash substitute?

Breaching!

Flash bang!

I must be imagining things.

Is it or is it not the spirits controlling the sword? Make up your damn mind!

I am suddenly okay with these "spirits".

No, not THAT sword.

Get of my damn lawn, you damn kids! With yer lances and yer horses and yer peerless swordplay!
Why I oughta...

But many superiors.

Question of the day:

What game, if any, is your favorite Fire Emblem game?

Personally, this one is for me because of the balance and because it introduce me to the series.

Holy shit, a GOOD Fire Emblem let's play, hell yes! seriously every time I find a let's play of this game it sucks. Because they people do something silly, like use only Lin for the entire game. Any way to answer your question I'm gonna say Sacred Stones because it introduced me to the series.

That's boring if you wanna do a play through. the point of an LP is to show as much of the game experience off to people. That said, I understand the need to document doing a solo run or something of that ilk. You can show them proof of your difficult playthrough (no one will be able to see the proof of my Cavalry [sain, kent, lowen, Rath, and priscilla only]).

Personally, I find that the hardcore FE community tend to shit on FE:SS because it's really easy for a fire emblem game, but I don't think the difficulty makes it any worse.

Erk, promote at lvl 20, becomes epic Beast! Just saying, magic users are ridiculously overpowered in this game. Actually pretty much any character is, as long as you wait to lvl 20 to promote them.

This game ROCKS! I've played it about 100 times, and this LP makes me want to play it again!

Also, nice LP!

Before I answer your question of the day, I must say that I really liked this update. Your references to Yugioh Abridged and Gurren Lagann just made me laugh so hard. And the penis jokes were perfect.

Anyway, this is my favorite Fire Emblem game. I played through this in between classes in my senior year of high school, and my friend and I just went through it, checking off all the possible sexual innuendos (mostly by replacing the word sword with penis). Great memories...we were so stupid then...I miss her...

Good to see someone as passionate about this game as I am. Erk is pretty useful, but he isn't really beastly. In fact, his stats are quite tame, but he's the only mage you get until nino shows up so he doesn't get much competition. Ditto for Canas.

Magic is just OP in fire emblem as series.

If we're being completely honest, I think that Radiance is the overall best in the series. It's well-writen, has good characters, and is well balanced and has good difficulty. All other games in the series have some sort of weakeness. (FE7 has some stupid plot shit that I'mma tear a new asshole later). The laguz was a cool concept, but outside of Muarim and his demiband, I found the laguz to lag behind the beorc in usefulness.

The smooth handle joke was lovingly ripped from Cracked.com's article "The 5 Pimpingest Historical Figures".

When the game came out, I was in 4th grade and I got it because I saw an article in Nintendo power on it and It looked real cool. Much of 5th grade was spent playing this game. The first time I played this game, I used only pre-promotes(and a lv10 promoted canas), so when I got to the final battle, my team got steam-rolled. So I tried again under my friends suggestion that I use only the lords and magical units, which worked much better.

This is true but what I liked about the Laguz is that they were truly balanced incredibly hard hitting but out of form they didn't do so well. Which the game completely broke when you got to use the Royals

Seriously, Laguz royals are broken. Two of my top five units at the end of Radiant Dawn were Tibarn and Caineghis, and you don't get them till near the end!

Also, halfshifts are bullshit!
