Mostly better than the actual films. However, I think the clones turning on the Jedi was one of the few good things to come out of the prequels so I'd say that should stay in. Otherwise, good stuff.

A very interesting approach. I for one enjoyed reading it, and would like to see how you write it out! It would be nice to see the Jar Jar antics gone, as well as the long podrace... Would you consider bringing in some more information on how Jedi are actually taught? I may be very boring in my interests here, but it is something I'd like to learn more about...

EDIT: Then again, that is the only thing I would like to see more of though, some insight to the training of Jedi, and their teachings... I think the movies are fine as they are, sure I don't watch the podrace every time (usually fastforward through them, and Jar Jar) but they are entertaining movies.

While the idea of brain-washed super soldiers turning on their former commanding officers was cool, everything else about the clone troopers just bugged me. Was it really so problematic for a galactic civilization to muster up a volunteer army, or conscripts if need be? The Republic must have had billions of able-bodied beings to serve soldiers, right? That's the issue I'm trying to confront here: that the process of wide-scale militarization conditioned the people of the Republic to see the establishment of an empire as the logical next step in their societal evolution.

And before anyone asks, Threepio and R2 do NOT show up anywhere.

its cool and all but is there still Qui-Gon? he is a must. and no 3p0 is cool but you gotta have artoo.

as much as a star wars 'reboot' or remake would be, if nothing else, an interesting take on an iconic saga; we wont see an actual one done in our lifetime

Part of the reason I'm doing this is that I just can't accept the existing films as the backstory of the trilogy I adore so much. Also, I was galvanized into doing this by none other than Harry S. Plinkett. http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/

No, Qui-Gon does not appear or get mentioned. I'm trying to use as many new and more interesting characters as possible. And like I said, R2 and C3PO are nowhere to be found. There's a line between paying homage to the originals and inexpertly contorting the plot of the prequels to fit in as many nostalgia characters as possible. I do not intend to cross that line.

Why yes, of course! That's one of those "I am your father"-esque revelations, is it not? :p

I hate to be the negative nancy, but it's not like the Original trilogy was freaking flawless, just look at the Ewoks (which in my opinion were as annoying as the Gungans). Anyhow, as much as I dislike parts of the Prequels I still think they are decent movies, parts of them are on par with the Originals. Out of all the movies the third is arguably the best, followed closely by Empire Strikes back.

The prequels really needed some hans solo type character that could and did die. The prequels were boring since there is no sense of danger you knew who lived and died beforehand.
anakin really needed a buddy(chris tucker as a joke). Tucker would give an "everymans" point of view and be a comic relief character. Tucker would ooh and ahh when jedis do stuff. As it is now the jedis semm pretty boring and indiffernt.

I don't think the prequels need to be changed. Sure there are things that I didn't enjoy, like Jar Jar and demystifying the Force into bacteria inside everyone. But they are still decent movies.

Oh trust me, I have no illusions of OT perfection. I just think that there was a huge discord between the overall quality of the PT's scriptwriting, character development, etc. with that of the OT. There were some hiccups in the OT and some high moments in the PT. I really enjoyed the immediate post-Order 66 period in ROTS, with clones stalking the forest in walkers, Obi-Wan flying off into space a wanted fugitive.

The prequels are awful and anyone that thinks otherwise should immediately go to redlettermedia and watch the prequel reviews.

That said, I can't really dig on sitting around and imagining them as better movies. Smacks of fanfiction and I don't swing that way.
