A city the size on a grain, but is indestructable. You shrink to get in and grow to get out. Food is always around because you only shrink it to intown-gigantic-size. It would also be in a invisi-bubble for weather control. Also, I like pie.

Shrinking/growing tech would be awesome, the world's supply problems would disappear over night the moment you start mass-producing it, ,however that's when the financial problems start, unless you just didn't mass-produce it and only use enough to help alleviate the world's supply problems.

I'd go with some kind of floating city in the sky, with some type of power supply that never ran out, didn't polute, and had enough energy to run everything on the city and to keep the city afloat. Then we'd develop some sort of sheilding to keep out unwanted people and stop missiles, etc. and of course, it would have an air force and some type of long distance laser weapon that could pass through the shield to take out attackers.

Oh, I don't know how to help you there, aside from asking someone to write it.

My personal country... That's a tough one, as I've never put much thought to it.

Location location location...
I'd suppose somewhere like New England. Not modern New England, more of 1990.

Economically: We'd be run by currency, as most countries/civilizations are. Oversea trade would be limited. We would import food as well, but much corn would be grown, as well as much ethanol processing.

Whatever you'd call this: In the metropolitan areas, any building exceeding ten stories would be prohibited. Noise pollution laws would be very strict. In suburban and rural areas, the same laws apply, but noise pollution laws would be looser. Modern factories would be utterly forbidden, in both areas. Sugar Cane and Corn (and Ethanol) would be massively produced resources. Any standing factories would be improved to the artificial lumber burning* which would be made in stand alone facilities, manually. Cars would be eliminated, and replaced with an underground transport system similar to the subway. The system would consist of looping rails going around the city to stations. Rail-riding vehicles would be available for rent at each station, summing into a fair rate of Two Currency Units/Three Miles. There would be two models to the rail-rider. electric powered and pedal, which would each rest on a different rail. (Red line for electric, blue line for manual) Hm... As for organization, the cities would be fit onto evenly measured blocks, with wide sidewalks in between, as well as the occasional railway station. I can imagine it a bit like Italy, with it's winding alleyways.

Military: No military.

Government: A council of four devout rulers. Corruption would not be tolerated to any degree. These four would be for the people, of the people, and always have the welfare of the citizens in mind. Each member would be part of the council for 10 years. Only 2 consecutive terms could be served.

Citizen wealth: Every citizen would be allowed a certain amount of luxuries. If you had a computer, you wouldn't get a TV for example. At age 18, all citizens would receive a government managed apartment, which would be maintained for 4 years. At the end of the four years, the inhabitant would be ejected.

Power/Energy: Due to our location, only salt water would be readily available for any sort of use.... I suppose we'd be using artificial, clean-burning wood*. I can't really think of anything for this one... The best thing I could devise is a man-made waterfall, which would require incredible labor.

Uhh.. That's all I can think of...
Yet I feel like I'm missing something..

Oh, also, my first post on The Escapist.

*Artificial wood is just what I use to describe miracle energy.

Seeing as how this plan is designed to be implemented when the bottom falls out of enough markets to cause world panic and topple the governments of Canada and the US, I think revolutionaries will be the least of the problems we'd face. Besides, I'm not sure if a significant number of North Americans would be spurred to such violence that the infrastructure would be irreparably damaged. The problem of revolutionaries would come from those in current positions of power, ie: politicians and the CEOs of major companies. The businessmen would be in no position to fight as in the event capitalism is undone, they lose all power.

The primary problem would be the political leaders of modern societies and anyone else trying to set up their own state in the vaccuum. Unless they could be paid off with arbitrary positions and titles, I think the best way to deal with them would be to emotionally manipulate the people to disown them. Once the stocks go down, people will listen to anyone, so it's important to get your message out first.
Ah, so you're stepping into a power vaccum. Yeah, this might work then. You'll be fine as long as you don't actually use the word Utopia to describe your new world. As soon as you call it a Utopia you get suspicious, well-read people such as myself giving you hard looks.

I suggest a book called How to Rule the World: A Handbook for the Aspiring Dictator, by Andre de Guillaume. I found it to be very helpful.

Yeah, I plan to make a snappy new buzzword to describe it. Newtopia perhaps? Or plain old Technate will be fine.

Don't bother with Mein Kampf, it apparently didn't work. What you need to study is Machiavelli. The Prince and The Discourses are wonderful works for the budding politician. Also, Kim Jong-Il wouldn't provide much useful information, he's so...ronery...so very ronery...Besides, his current nuclear arsenal isn't much more powerful than a truck filled with explosives. Not a good model for how to be a menacing tyrant.

Both are riddled with corruption and inefficiencies. The reasons for China's power lie in the cutthroat industrialist practices of their burgeoning free-market. The State can barely keep up with them. Trying to build a superpower with the stability of the US is nigh impossible when you've got that situation. A more realistic idea for authoritarian power would be to go for what Singapore has. They're a well-disciplined police state with a pretty stable government and nice standard of living.
