Is it just me or was Naruto filled with plenty of such nonsense moments as well?

I might add that such situations repeating themselves also turned me off Naruto after the hundred and twentieth something episode (manga as well as anime).

I love Death Note. I love everything about it. In fact, I think I'm going to go watch some Death Note now!

I freakin' loved Death Note, except the ending. I didn't like the ending not because of HOW it ended
(Light's downfall etc. I have no problem with), but WHY it ended that way. Mikami's actions as a solo act that led to him doing the exact same thing as Light at the exact same time as Light that led to the discovery of the notebook seems like a somewhat cheap excuse because the writer had finally run out of ways for Near to screw with Light's plans. Also, I take issue with the fact that Light was the only person besides Mikami and Near to not bring a gun to that meeting. I figure that being a super-genius as well as a professional detective who is licensed to carry firearms means that he should've realized: "Hey, maybe I might need something beyond a scrap of Death Note paper in my watch."

I'd much rather read deathnote in the form of a 20 minute consuming short story rather than 23 episode anime.

Huge deathnote fan, loved it.

But in the end it rubbed me the wrong way and I got tired of the halfbaked ending.

Death Note was ok but you should totally read One Piece because it is better. I would not have mentioned this had you not mentioned One Piece. :D

I thought it was pretty good, but Light eventually got on my nerves and I hated Near. Also no offense but I'm just wondering, why are we talking about it now that's been finished for years?

I'm sorry, anytime someone mentions Death Note I just think of this:

But seriously, One Piece is better. And has at least another decade ahead of it.

Death Note, for me, was a pretty damn good anime, one of the first I've watched. Looking back on it now, I can safely say that it's still a pretty damn good anime, though maybe not as great as I remember it.

The premise and the overall story was damn good, I think. A classic tale on how "absolute power corrupts absolutely". The animation was damn good, the pacing was damn good, basically everything overall was damn good.

Though you can't spell Death Note without contrived....well, you could, but you get the point. The story, particularly around the halfway point, got really confusing and all that, basically going "I knew that you knew that I knew that you knew that I knew that!" and the like. Towards the end I had no idea what the hell they were doing to prove who was Kira.

But overall overall, it was a damn good anime. I just recently watched the live action movies, and those were...interesting to say the least, though obviously just cash in's.

EDIT: Though apparently One Piece is better. I haven't seen it, but from what I have seen it looks in the same vein as Naruto I.E. pointless filler after pointless filler. Though that could be 4Kids castrating the show at the time.

I don't want to see it. I never want to read. And I want absolutely nothing to do with it EVER...I have my reasons...(I never knew my friends could have such twisted fantasies.....) T_T
If I may ask what do you mean by reasons. I always looked up to L the one who fought against Light (the corrupted). I do agree especially the second season was quite dark when L dies in the fight against light but it was a brilliant allusion to the sacrifice of Christ (L washing the feet of the sinner Light).

If you do not wish to answer me that is fine, you can ignore me or answer me in a PM. It is your choice.
Oh no no no no. You're actually reading way to much into what I said. Half of everything I say I am just joking around but since this is the internet I'll admit it is hard to tell.

What I was really talking about was that during my senior year in high school was when Death Note got really popular. I had never read or watched it but my friends did. I should note that all my friends are girls and that I am the only guy in the group. ALL of them were obsessed about it. Death Note didn't really seems like something that would interest me so I just never felt like checking it out. (besides I already know everything that happens because my friends wouldn't shut up about it.) Anyways back to my story. For like two months every conversation we had (and I am serious when I say EVERY) Death Note would ALWAYS be brought up. So it just got old real quick especially since I was the odd man out. But the MAIN reason I never looked into Death Note was because my friends were constantly talking about all this yaoi crap that involved Death Note. I just assumed that was what it was all about. It was just yaoi. I could go on...but I'm sure I don't really need to. Course now I'm guessing Death Note isn't really yaoi...I guess.

Let's just say it's the anime that restored my faith after that abomination Naruto almost put me off anime for good. (Although Shippuden is a bit better. Still gave up on it.) The Death Note manga has better pacing though.

With all this talk about one piece and my own eager-ness about it I think ima have to watch it after I finish Clannad.

Deathnote's a great series and has some great twists and turns in. And imo has a satisfactory ending! One of my fav's tbh and i'd recommend it to friends to get them into anime.
I like how its not TOO fantastical, there is only one leap of faith to be made, that these books exist. Otherwise its set in the real world which reacts as though this book shouldn't exist.
Also it shows quite well light's descent into madness.

I didn't like the ending of Death note, to me Light just acted to much out of character. But apart from that it was a decent series.

Good until the half way point. After, I really lost interest. Huge drop in interest.
This. It really sucked after L died.
Anime was way worse than the manga as well btw. It just wasn't made for the medium and god it showed.

Death Note was superb up until L died, with the other "bored" bit being when Light lost his memories, that bit dragged on quite a bit imo.

To me I think the ending was superb, parring that Delete dude spraying out blood at a stupid rate after cutting his wrist, that just looked stupid. My Uncle said that he didn't like the ending because Light didn't seem to be acting himself, but I argued that he knew from when he first got the DN that he would do it, even though it may even cost him his sanity, and he was correct.

I have been wanting to watch some sort of Anime after DN, but no idea what I SHOULD watch tbh

Light got corrupted by the power he had much more quickly than I liked, to be honest. Beyond that, it was mostly a good series.
5 or 7 years or something, too quick?

Then again I suppose you mean the starting to kill everyone from the start and not that bit at the end when he goes nuts. Regardless I thought it was okay, he found a source of great power and a great way to use it. Don't see why its so... Unfeasible.

I loved it up until the end. Why kill L, then replace him with the same character? My theory is that they were planning on ending it earlier until deciding to make some more money by stretching it out. And they way they catch Light was dissapointing. He basically confessed.
