This thread was inspired by the internet and every day encounters with other people. It seems as though someone will ask you something about yourself but you'll always stretch the truth or pull something out of your ass completely. Usually to impress someone even though we set ourselves up to get exposed in a loop of questions, but before that happens we have as much fun with it as we can. So I ask you fellow Escapists what's the greatest lie you ever told about yourself, the longest lie you kept going, or the last time you lied?

EDIT: I'll also take lies you've heard other people say.

The last lie I told was that I once ditched a cop.
The greatest lie I told that impressed the most people is that I've punched Nicholas Cage. (I had the opportunity to, but couldn't do it.)
The longest lie I kept going was that I was Irish, kept it going for 4 years, I was under the belief that I was of Irish decent due to Irish customs around the house but when an ancestry project came around in school I found out I wasn't. I wasn't intentionally lying, but it turned out to be one.

The keywords Liar/Lying/Fib have been search bar approved.

I like to make legends about myself behind my own back and then completely deny them when confronted with these legends, instilling them even more.

I don't lie. however, I will ...omit parts of the truth. I wont fabricate it.

I don't lie, ever. Whatever wrong I do I fess up if asked.
Really? Not once, even the small things. Saying you liked something even though you didn't due to wanting to spend time with guy/girl?

I told an Australian girl in a bar in Adelaide last night that it's not unusual for English people (like myself) to own or in fact live in castles.

I was taking the piss, but she believed me...

I don't tend to lie, particularly on the internet. Why would I lie to impress people I don't even know?

Despite this I'm a pretty good liar; I never tell an outright lie, I simply miss out a few details.

Last lie, that I was out of phone credit (technically bending the truth, I've got enough for a text but not a phone call).
Greatest lie, errr don't really have one. I don't make a habit of deceiving people I know.
I don't think I have a longest going lie. I have sometimes told the occasional white lie like "It's not your fault." etc. but I've never convinced other people I'm something I'm not (to the best of my recollection that it).

I lie/kid a lot; I only tell really bizarre lies, even argue about them. People think I'm serious, so I'll just add to the fire. I once convinced some broads that there was an image of a parachute on my shirt, when in fact it was a pair of panties. I also lied to cop about my name, told him it was Morgan Walbbee; I'm not sure if he bought it, but he didn't argue it.

Other than my bizarre lies, I'm honest and sometimes an "asshole."

I never lie, I just bend the meanings of words until they resemble a metaphorical pretzel.

Well, technically a name is what you call yourself, and you were calling yourself Morgan Walbbee, so you didn't lie. A lie is only a lie if you can't find a way that it is the truth.

I like to introduce myself to drunk friends-of-friends as "Dave O'Brien" (not my name) - sometimes with an American accent, sometimes with an Australian accent.

The trouble is remembering who knows me as "Dave" and who doesn't.
