Likable game characters.

Fairly self explanatory, what character in a game have you actually found yourself liking? A lot of the time they can be rather samey or boring (see Alex Mercer), and some are downright annoying (you know who you are, Navi), but there must be a few endearing characters out there. So who are they and why did you find them likable?

This would usually be the point where I would offer one myself, but I actually can't think of any right now. Apart from maybe Squall and Rinoa from FFVIII, mostly because their interactions can be pretty amusing.

Zack Fair from Crisis Core.

Watching him grow and develop as a character all the way up to his death and seeing the impact he made is so sad. Also he was a very human character who felt rather believable.

How much I like a character is generally in inverse proportion to how much dialogue he has. I like my silent protagonists in GTA3, Morrowind, and Oblivion, I like the merchant NPCs, and I like any character who says something along the lines of "Sure, boss, let me get those numbers for you" before pulling up an info sheet.

The more effort writers make, the less I like it.
