I agree, some form of physical punishment, however light, should be allowed for discipline's sake. I think it'll learn them more to not steal from little timmy up the road if you gave them a smack on the head as opposed to a more PC approach.

Okay, stop acting like violence is the perfect solution to all these parenting problems. I'm not saying physical discipline is bad, but it doesn't allow an incompetent parent to properly discipline their children. They will still suck at parenting, even if they sue physical discipline.

The only legal time a parent can hit their kid is if they ask for it or if they hit first, and then only to take them down

OT: i'm with you on this, kids need dicipline, and parents need to become better, hell if i ahd my way families over2 kids would be banned and teenages would be banned from even thinking about breeding until they could be educated and could catagoricaly prove through tests that they could take care of their kids (also they'd have to be a certain age)

You know, i was beaten as a child - not very often, even. The result? My mind is a howling toxic wasteland even Sigmund Freud would have really hard time sorting out. I'm pretty much insane by all standards. My good qualities, on the other hand, have nothing to do with it. Being beaten motivated only hate and desire for revenge.

And people... you know who else was abused as a child? Adolf Hitler. I am sure it had some impact on his mental condition.

mothers think that their children are little angels from above, or they were abusive and the child thinks that if their parents are this bad, why even try to be good. if you treat your child with respect but if they don't show it back at times and punish them, they'll learn to be good, but not like the kids that everyone hates because they're the teachers pet.

I have sort of a love hate relationship with children. Kids who are articulate and can actually communicate effectively have always fascinated me, and I try to treat them nicely when I meet kids like that.

Other than the kids in that category, I'm either or indifferent or they piss me off because they're spoiled brats.
