Remember when I have repeatedly stated I have a tipsy opinion of this site?
You have a drunken/unsteady view of this site?

And you would probably have been better off reducing that entire first post down to two paragraphs (or less) and one video. I don't get the feeling many people on this site are all that interested, so better to hook them with a short post that they might actually read.

Christ on a bread bin you guys are delicate little snowflakes aren't you? "Waah you insulted us all!" "Waah stop talking about things I don't like" "Waah stop saying bad things about what I do like" "You're a troll!" "No you're a troll!" yadda yadda etc. I've seen less tears at a first time anal convention.

I've finally cracked the code, the Escapist forums (cause sweeping statements are kewl) is /v/ with a thesaurus and some kind of complex about "objectively" proving things wrong.
I suggest you actually read through the thread and count the number of people actually acting like that...

You'll find it to be a minority at best.
If you say so mate. The first comment alone was snarky and tearful and bar a scattering of others it was all the same from there. Plus the OP quickly went from "Heres a game series" to "I hate this place you all bully me"

Hyperbolic maybe, but minority at best? Poppycock my friend, poppycock.

EDIT: I am of course referring to the first page since it was all that was there when I read the thread. It could be all sunshine, daisies and loli in the second for all I know.

Lilith Slave, that was inspiring. Touhou seems pretty neat. Haven't played a game like that since the arcade days. The only reason ive never picked one of these games up is that I couldn't get my head around how I was a spaceship and a magical girl at the same time.

Two questions

1. Which Touhou should I start with?
2. Where the hell do I get it

Bonus Question: Why are all the decent Shooter em ups on XBLA?

-It has a simple shoot/dodge gameplay style (with the occasional shield/freeze/powerup etc gimmick) that a lot of sidescrolling shooters from a decade and older employed. It's stagnant.
Don't know that much about Touhou mate, but I have to say, just because they've been using the same mechanical style over and over, doesn't make it stale. Innovation isn't some magical godsend that makes a game better. Iteration tends to work a lot better.

Also, Magical Girls.

Innovation, iteration. . . I just want to know if it has something to make it better than many 10 year old games, which it seems to look exactly like except with less enemies and more 'bullets' and with. . magical girls.

Also, Magical Girls are a cheap ploy to abuse the viewer's liking of submissive sexual females.

I just remembered how awesome Dark Magician Girl is.

Apart from that, no idea.

This thread is now about Magical Girls.

I don't have the reflexes to be good at bullet hells, but props to those who do. I like the fact that the genre produces games that are balanced and hard vs. the pseudo-interactive cinematic experiences that some devs see as the ideal of gaming.

Well, chess hasn't changed significantly in the last few centuries. The various incarnations of Tetris haven't change significantly, either. When a genre has the simplicity of: "here are some things, dodge them," I don't really see how much the gameplay can be refined beyond giving the player interesting patterns of things to dodge.

Here we go again.

You complaint about us that we are intolerant to anime and that we say stuff like:

"Its anime so its shit"

I would defend your right to like anime but after the multitude of threads created by you that are filled with anime and that are written in an way that completely dismisses everything else in favor of praising what you like, I just can't.

Your mind is incredibly narrow in the way that you treat everyone that is diferent then you like a dick. Why would you post this knowing that barely anyone knows about it (and is interested in it) here in the Escapist?

If you want to let people know about it dont say "This is the best thing ever and you are an idiot if you never played it", just say "I have been playing this game and loving it, what other games have you been playing lately and loving?". Notice the question? That is important to start a thread, let people also spread a bit of what they like and if they happen to like what you like then great, if they don't then move on.

You, for what you do here in the forums, are a door-to-door religious guy. This is our reaction to what you do:

The thing about Touhou is, where to even begin? For starter, Touhou is a giant. It is a giant fandom of millions of people worldwide. It is at the very least the most famous indie game in Japan.
*sighs* Im basically going to repeat my point but....you just called this game a giant, when it is an indie game...and its not in english.

Last I checked a majority of people on the Escapist speak english and are going to be primarily in English speaking countries. The game may very well be incredibly popular in Japan, but that is just one country, and a vast majority of users on this website...dont live there. You may be overestimating the games popularity be juuuuuuust a little bit.

Also..its a bullet hell shooter...I haven't seen one of those in fewp...6-7 years? Even for an indie game thats a pretty obscure genre nowadays.

On top of that..its a freaking bullet hell shooter...a genre normally associated with very difficult reflex skills and a ton of precision. Ie really difficult games. Its like if you took IWBTG and made it even more obscure, and translated it to spanish then being suprised when nobodies heard of it.

Also..do you really expect to get a positive response out of this? You made a thread about this before..then spent the entire time basically shrugging people off as ignorant, and generally didnt leave a good impression, and now here you are ready to "enlighten us all".

Not the way to get your point across, it just screams of arrogance.

A lot of people obviously recommend it be done semi-chronologically.

But if you want friendly, I personally recommend Imperishable Night. It is an all around great game, welcoming for newcomers on Easy mode, and brutally difficult Last World spellcard bonuses for those who want a challenge.

That's number 8 right? That's by far my favourite. Pretty damn good at it too.

Thanks but no thanks.

Looks like a messy clusterfuck of noise and epilepsy, not helped by a (probably unnecessary) completely batshit story filled with high-pitched anime schoolgirls squeaking at you and tedious hour long boss fights involving you sanding down a giant health bar atom by atom while dodging instant death.

Well, I´d give it a try, i suppose. I think i like bullet hell games, tho I´ve only played one. And i did fairly well. Then again, I´m pretty damn sure this is A LOT harder than that little Flash game i played....

Also, even tho I haven`t played any Touhou games, I´ve most of those meme vids. They`re pretty decent stuff, except the McDonald`s one...that just creeps me out.
