Here we go again.
You complaint about us that we are intolerant to anime and that we say stuff like:
"Its anime so its shit"
I would defend your right to like anime but after the multitude of threads created by you that are filled with anime and that are written in an way that completely dismisses everything else in favor of praising what you like, I just can't.
Your mind is incredibly narrow in the way that you treat everyone that is diferent then you like a dick. Why would you post this knowing that barely anyone knows about it (and is interested in it) here in the Escapist?
If you want to let people know about it dont say "This is the best thing ever and you are an idiot if you never played it", just say "I have been playing this game and loving it, what other games have you been playing lately and loving?". Notice the question? That is important to start a thread, let people also spread a bit of what they like and if they happen to like what you like then great, if they don't then move on.
You, for what you do here in the forums, are a door-to-door religious guy. This is our reaction to what you do:
Yes, thank you.

Also, Magical Girls are a cheap ploy to abuse the viewer's liking of submissive sexualized females.
So magical girls are a cheap ploy, but muscular dudes are not?
Yeah, no. That's a bad justification for one's taste and desires. The Touhou games do not sexualize the females at all.
Really? Not at all huh? From the same dudes who made a game about capturing little girls into balls and using them to fight each other has no symbolism about a dude being powerful enough to capture females of their tastes. Pokemon had symbolism about how illegal-animal-fights if you looked at it from the perspective that illegal-animal-fighting was just allowed there. Also, there are a few sexualized girls in Tohou, but its not how they act as more of their general looks. Honestly, if I dived in looking for the one or two in question I would never come out.
While here, they did not say that Muscular Dudes were not or are a ploy at all therefore coping out with "Magic girls are a ploy, but muscular dudes are not?" is just using assumptions to your better.

Lillith, while I'm here, I'm going to confess something. The very first time me and you had a chat resulted in you essentially calling me a dumb-fuck for disliking something that you liked, which just isn't right. And it wasn't like you gave a decent reason for it aside from "just because" sure you put up a few straws but my tank ran through those straws leading to "just because" and I had reasons for disliking it that were more objective then subjective. I'm not saying this to make you feel bad, but its just it was rude and you pull another rude move so to prevent people from treating you like a prick in the future, please make sure you don't tell everyone that they are ignorant for not agreeing with you.
On topic, saying Tohou is big is a overstatement. Proof of this is that most of the games have been only fan-translated and not translated by the actual team for these games. While some were very interesting for just the odd-ball act such as Tohouvania and tohou-mon, most of the top down shooter ones are very stale from one another and aren't that fun to play due to instant kill moves being thrown out like roses at a wedding and bad story combined with just hard to play gameplay, but if you get over that its solid at least.
Ikaruga is simple, but hard, it doesn't extend past BLOCK X BULLET, SHOOT DIFFERENT COLORED BULLET AT Y while Tohou doesn't have any real lee-way in combat. While Ikaruga gave you a slight chance at surviving anything, there are just a few things in Tohou you can't avoid first time through. Granted that can be said for most bullet-hells but most are fair enough to give you a warning before hand.
Another kick in the balls in metaphorical speak is the actual cast, while it varies, are not much beyond 2-D cut-outs of different personalities. Sure there are
a-lot of personalities, but they don't extend past it, they don't have depth or motivation past what their personality is. Maria, for example, when questioned in the Defense Attorney Tohou game doesn't have much defense for her recklessness besides "Blowing things up is fun!" The characters aren't deep or have interesting motivation, they are just different personalities missing the depth.
While I'll give Tohou credit for creating a fucking massive universe with a ton of continuity between them, it just is to much and at points can get rather confusing where this character fits in with this very obscure character and is just hard to follow. It almost gets to Metal Gear Solid levels of hard-to-follow at points. Also the stories aren't that well written.
My final complaint is on character design. Its just that these feel so Anime that I don't think Otacon could possibly look at them
In conclusion, the shooting is slightly solid but is very cheap when it comes to one hit kills and unseeable death, resulting in many retries. Convoluted story and there just being to many to keep track of. The characters are card-board cut outs and just dress way to anime in style.
