Attention: After being made aware of the prevalent sexism in recent games Ive changed the goal of this thread to simply list as many sexist characters as possible so that more may become aware.

Rules:

1.It CANNOT be a game series created by the Japanesse (mario, streetfighter, dead or alive)
2.It CANNOT be from a game from decade or more ago (anything before 2003)
3. Elaborate why please.
4: must list at least
5: Must be a popular game
6: Bonus points if its a major character.

The rules are very clear

EDIT: Rule 2 redefined from game series to just game.

You can list any female character from gaming, except for all these examples that I know prove me wrong.

What about us male feminists (or feminist allies)? Because I can cite Hitman Absolution as an example, which has more than two women being depicted in a sexist way. I can elaborate why too, and everything.

Though like Jayemsal implied, I'm pretty sure you're just going to nitpick your way out of every possible example in an effort to shut down feminist discourse in regards to gaming.

I would have to agree with you on your example. I now recall the controversial hitman tralier that was pretty blattantly sexist and distasteful.

Now that I have acknoweledged your point will you please meet my criteria?
Though I did say female feminist and it has has to be an actual specific character, also hitman series came out more than a decade ago.

I do not understand your statement, could you rephrase it please?

Then pick two of the sexy-nun-assassins and there you have your specific characters.

But since you said female, I'll be bowing out of the conversation.

Have fun, girls! :)

Hitman series was introduced in 2000 thus you still don't meet the criteria. But Yes that Hitman trailer was quite distasteful.

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
Not saying the game as a whole is sexist. But I have a problem with the quest given by Svana Far-Shield in Haelga's Bunkhouse in Riften. The objective is to collect the marks of Dibella given by Haelga from the men she slept with in order to confront her with it and humiliate her. The quest is making her out to be some kind of villain just because she had sex. How dare she? You would never see a quest like this relating to a man. This is an example of slut-shaming that I'm not okay with.

I can't really think of another game immediately. But by taking games like Dead or Alive away from me there's not a whole lot I can offer.

Thank you for that example, I was not aware of that. I would defiantly consider that sexist.

Let me know if you can come up with a second one.

This makes no sense. If you're going to not accept Hitman because it started in 2000 you shouldn't accept Skyrim either, as The Elder Scrolls franchise started out in 1994. It's even older than Hitman.

I did not accept it The example doesn't meet the criteria also the person didn't have a second example. To be fair though that rule is somewhat too harsh. I should redefine that rule to make it more relaxed.

oh I see what your trying to do here....*sigh* really?

as far as clothing goes..thankfully most games are more or less good in that regard

as for sexist?hard to say...everyones got their own version of what is/isnt sexist

OH OH! I got one Catwoman from Batman:AC

1. her malfunctioning zipper serves no purpose other than to be stupid
2. she's a typical femne fatal..no purpose other than to fuck with the male protagonist (actually I didnt finish Batman AC so I may very well be wrong here)

or mabye ellie from borderlands 2...is it sexist that attention is drawn to her apearance? but to be fair shes not an awful charachter (villanous or anything like that)

PS: I find it hilarious you had to specify no japanease games

The reason why I specified no japanesse games is to bring to light the fact they tend to be more sexist than other countries AT LEAST by our cultures (western) standards. Further Japan is also the home of anime which has many strong female protagnists (and sexist characters as well) that
is also popular amoung men and women.

I could see how a constant wardrobe malfunction is sexist but I dont see how a women that acts interdependently and doesnt give a damn about batman is sexist. You will have to explain it to me.

Hmmm... I'll take a shot at it, even if I'm a dude.

The Witcher - Game makes a mini game out of seducing and banging women through the shallowest methods possible. Women are treated as goals/rewards, villains, or prostitutes for the most part.

Mass Effect - sexism is not prevalent in this game, but let's be honest - the Asari are a species designed entirely to give you boners, from appearance to concept.

So, what did I win?

Oh, nevermind. You don't understand why taking an independent woman and dressing her like the world's Grand Master Hooker Champion is sexist. This is the kind of game were nobody wins, isn't it?

I never got to play the witcher but that is defiantly sexist.

Yep, that is my contribution to the thread, not gonna bother with posting an example of "sexism in games" because it seems pointless...
It's not pointless! Don't you see? We have to put the feminist scarlet letter of disapproval on certain games and condemn them for all eternity so that we can attain our ultimate goal of censoring all freedom of speech and expression.

But seriously, pointing out sexism in gaming is like trying to point out puke at a carnival. It's sort of splattered everywhere and sometimes it gets hard to tell where the puke ends and not-puke begins. But let's have a go anyway, even given the incredibly restrictive criteria in the OP (nothing from a game series that started before 2003? Really?)

Orcs Must Die 2. I played this game as the Sorceress, since her powers were the most suited to my play style (long range combat and mind control ftw). If you play as the Warmage he's completely covered up with armour and yells a collection of pun-ridden catchphrases much like he did in the original game. The Sorceress, on the other hand, wears spike-heeled boots with the Shortest Skirt In The History Of The World (with the option to put her in costumes that show off even more skin) and has the waggliest bum I have ever seen. Even when she's standing still she swings her hips from side to side like an octogenarian trying to fight off arthritis, and the way she runs is incredibly stupid (spike heels plus bum obsessed developers). On top of all that, I had to listen to her shouting "More, more!" and "Oh, yes, yes!" in an orgasmic porn-star voice while she fought.

Love both games in this series, but at least in the first game the main character didn't grate on my nerves like a ... cheese grater ... on cheese (poor simile). Admittedly he's the same generic twenty-something brown-haired white male that you get in every video game, but at least some of his lines were funny. Then they introduced a playable female character for the sequel and the developers clearly had no idea what to do with her beyond showing off her bum and giving her sexy shouts.
Now to be fair, she apparently also wears a pair of hotpants underneath her incredibly short skirt.
Not that this makes this any better..
Actually, this probably makes it worse.
Yep, definitely worse.

Also it's not true that the developpers only wanted a female character for showing off her bum and doing sexy shouts.
They also gave her a lot of cleavage and have her do splits...
