Have you ever played through a sequel to a game and wished that the makers hadn't changed/removed something small or unimportant to the overall game?

My example of this is that one my first playthrough of dragon age 2 I missed that each weapon had a little description with its stats, telling you about the history of a sword or piece of armour. I think this would have been something good to keep in the series.

What are the little things you missed in a sequel?

Okamiden is fun, but I miss being able to swim across rivers instead of having to find the screen transition on a bridge. I'd assume it's mostly the fault of the DS. And Chibi can't sprint. I don't mind the little hopping thing he does, and I don't think it's too slow, but I miss being able to sprint across a field with a long line of flowers following in my wake.

Oblivion's biggest fault...is the TONS of "little things" they removed since Morrowind. In Morrowind, Soul Gems looked different, as did potions. You knew it was a grand soul gem or a petty soul jem just by how it looks. And potions came in many different bottles, determined by weight and quality (I think). Also variety in armor, clothing,....SPEARS.

Theres more too, but it really hurt Oblivion. Still an amazing game, but Morrowind is far better.

As lame as it may sound, I really found the tiny button-position changes in Dead Space 2 to be annoying. x_x Trivial as all get out but c'mon..I just got used to certain things and they go and change it. *Rampage*

I was slightly upset that, unlike its predecessors, in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess there were no usable fire, ice or light arrows. Bomb arrows were a nice touch, but they weren't the same.

Still loved the game, though.

The removal of the really fast enemy types (can't remember the name) from Dead Space 2, i'm glad they cut down on the amount of Dividers though (stasis and run)

And yeah the little button changes annoyed me

Reload is X instead of A and Stasis is Y instead of X... No i can't see any problem there Visceral Games /sarcasm

"Ah a Stalker running at me eh? Time to stasis it and run past *reloads* FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU *dies*"

I missed getting exp for each kill in Mass Effect 2.
I notice the same thing going on in Dragon Age 2. Unlike ME2 though, you do get exp after each encounter. Still, it's annoying to play the original, where each kill nets you at least something, then switch the the 'new and improved' version wherein you aren't rewarded as often for your long, hard days of murdering the slavering hoards.

I noticed the same exact thing...in Fable 3. For Fable 2, every weapon, article of clothing, bit of food, etc, had a little description attached. Fable 3 rolls around and it takes me a quarter hour to find where the hell my stats are (not the main stats like gameplay time but stuff like the number of STD's I'd contracted)

I don't really have anything personal to add to be honest. I could talk about how I thought Final Fantasy VIII had my favorite level-up system and wistfully imagine an alternate universe in which Final Fantasy XIII used the GF Junction system instead of the FFX Ouija Board thing. Although the FFIX approach was also great but if there's one thing that more people would agree on where FFXIII is concerned is how they only want you directly controlling one character when every other FF title (except the MMOs) allow you to control the whole party.

I liked how San Andreas had RPG elements and how those elements had more then just the obvious effects. Like, if you wanted to bang a certain NPC you had a be a huge, greasy, heart-attack-waiting-to-happen.

One more note (A less popular one I'll bet) is how I wish you could have used the pistol from Halo 2 in Reach and, Halo 3. It wasn't as mighty as the CE pistol but it was still pretty sweet.

While it's a minor in Pokemon White I missed using the touchscreen to skip the dialogues, now I have to keep pressing the A button to do so.

Yeah, I dislike it when games overuse an icon for inventory items. I'm a visual person, so I like to be able to see what item it is at a glance. WoW was pretty good for giving most things different icons, so you're unlikely to have two different items with the same icon in your bag (though occasionally it would happen and end up confusing me briefly).

Fuck it, I tried to make a penis joke but I'm not getting anywhere so fuck it.

OT: In DA2, you can't talk to your companions at anytime. I miss that.

I miss the ability to gain exp in Disgaea through healing with my healers. Their attacks suck and it takes forever to level them up when all I use them for is healing. Uggg. None in the first game, introduced in the second and taken out in the third. WHY?!

I have found though that Tales of the Elder Scrolls is like D&D, you will always love your original one most, and the newer ones suck balls.

I love 3.5ed best for D&D and I think 4th is "Dumbed down" I have mates who played 2nd ed first and say the same of 3.5 ed (I don't actually know anyone who played 3rd ed).

The same seems to apply with TES, "Oblivion is shit, Morrowind is better" "No way, Dagger fall is the greatest" etc.

EDIT: Oh yeah, OT: I miss the personalised "pimping" for each gun in Army of Two. In the original some guns were all chrome with diamond crusted, barrel mounted sheilds, others were black with pure white skulls, I'm pretty sure the Deagle had purple Fleur De Lis on the handle and a gold plated barrel etc. Where as in The 40th Day, they are all just gold plated with a chrome detailing, but it's a flat looking gold. Does that make sence?

They did add in like, tiger print and smiley faces and such, but I miss buying the pimped upgrade just to see what it looked like.

The problem with Oblivion, they took out more than they put in. And actually, most people who favor Oblivion, are those who just have difficult not having the easier fighting, and the physics. Most people who liked it more than Morrowind played Oblivion first. As for DnD, there is no way, opinion or not, that 4th is better. How did they think removing Lawful Evil and Chaotic Good, the two best alignments. The coolest characters are those mastermind villians (Lex Luthor, Dr Doom) and rogue heros (Robin Hood, Wolverine, Deadpool)
