Reckon I could complain about any game which shows an all-powerful creator as being offensive to my atheist beliefs and get it changed?

You know, because I'm deeply offended and stuff by the implications the game is making about the real world.

I find it strange that a game that has a lyric or two that was quoted from the holy book of a religion can insight a great deal of religious controversy while a game that actually allows you to be a god (and a truly malevolent and black-hearted one at that) can attract none.

In all seriousness, people need to chill the f**k out and calm down. Stop taking things so seriously. The Muslim community needs to try not to get so deeply offended when someone outside their culture makes the slightest reference to any aspect of their religion. On the opposite side of the coin, Sony needs to calm down and stop assuming that if they offend the Muslims that one of their head offices is going to get bombed.

If people just stop and take a breather once and a while, we'll all be better off.

I'd just like to say, even if it offends you, shouldn't you be glad your religeon, which is said to be one of peace and love, is being expressed in such a universal medium as music and in a positive way that does not involve turbans and bombs?

PS: I am a Christian, and I found Dogma to be a HILARIOUS movie. Look it up, Religulous isn't anything new- and Dogma has Jay and Silent Bob!

Forget the insult to Islam issue--how did lyrics that sound more like lines from _God of War_ get in this game, did they take that Kratos Sackboy thing a little too far, or something?
Have you heard the song? Its soothing, vaguely African sounding music.
The problem isn't the music, though, it's the lyrics.

Death In June sounds like Dead Can Dance, if you don't listen to the lyrics, but..."Rose Clouds of Holocaust" isn't exactly as innocent as "American Dreaming" even though they've both got a jangly guitar, as I remember.
Death In June sounds NOTHING like Dead Can Dance! WTF are you talking about?

I have the solution!

Boycott Toumani Diabate.

I know what you're going to say: he's just some guy who's caught in the middle of this and just trying to get his music heard. Why punish him?

Well, if his music is supposedly offensive to Muslims, shouldn't we agree and make sure his offensiveness doesn't get spread further? Get him dropped from his record label. Get his albums steamrolled. If he's supposedly offensive, don't stop at removing a song from a video game. Get to the root of the problem.

Boycott Toumani Diabate.

So what do I mean by boycott, exactly? I know most of us never heard of Toumani Diabate before the release delay problem (man, that's innuendo worthy, there), so boycotting someone we've never heard of by not buying his stuff is basically default, right? That's not what I'm talking about. I mean we need to make a fuss. We don't need to complain about a game being delayed and curse religion for it. That's too easy. Say, "Yeah, they're right! This is offensive to them and Toumani Diabate is a problem!"

That way, next time, there won't be a song with offensive religious lyrics to be included in a potentially really good game...

Actually, considering there was a wave of people attempting to bomb abortion clinics, in the US during the 80's, I'd say there's some pretty scary outrage on the parts of Christians too.
That makes little sense.
They bombed abortion clinics not because they were offended religiously, but because they believed they were murdering babies.
And where did they get that belief, hum?

This sounds like playing a beetle's record backwards to find them saying "Devil".

It appears to me that the muslims were trying to find something to complain about, like going out of there way to do so.

Give those two songs a listen and get back to me ;-D

And while we're on the subject, listen to give the song "The Carnival is Over" by Dead Can Dance, and then listen to some Sinatra...[/quote]

I've been listening to both of those songs since 2002. And just because two songs MIGHT happen to sound similar (and they don't), that doesn't mean the bands sound the same. They're completely different genres. The ONLY thing the songs have in common is the acoustic guitar. If that's your only basis of comparison, you may as well say that all punk sounds exactly the same...

You want songs that sound the same? Try Sugar Sugar by the Archies and Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealer's Wheel or I Need a New Drug by Huey Lewis and the News and The Ghostbusters Theme by Ray Parker Jr.

Why the hell is it LittleBigPlanet that's offensive? Why is the existence of two phrases in the soundtrack enough to cause a delay FOUR DAYS before release?

Didn't see an uproar when the Lord's Prayer in Swahili (Baba Yetu) was used as the title music for Civ4. Nor any sort of delay/recall to adjust it. Nice double standards you guys.

contains Arabic words taken from the Quran
Nice how they didn't mention the exact terminology used. For all we know it could be entirely benign. Sounds like more special treatment for the "oppressed" over-sensitive religious types (in this case, Muslims).

"We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. "
As an Atheist I find your attempt to remove music from a game I might like to purchase deeply offending.

Fucking ridiculous. Quit pandering to Religious types (And Atheists for that matter), ignore their whines. If they don't like it, don't fucking play it. It's not as if anyone's holding a gun to your head and forcing to you put the disc in your drive and play the game.
What have we learned from this (and the Danish Mohammed Cartoon Incident)? It's that terrorism works, apparently, because the radical Islamist extremists have succeeded in making quite a lot of people mortally terrified of them and influencing their decisions.

Christians, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster need to calm the fuck down. Free speech should be able to survive a couple of passenger aircraft used as missiles.
