If you've ever been past on the M5 and seen the big monument between Taunton and Tiverton, that was built by the town to commemorate the victory at Waterloo. It was not completed until well after the Duke of Wellington had died and the town ran out of money for the Waterloo artillery pieces they'd bought to stand near the obelisk and as a result, some of them wound up being used as mooring posts at Exeter Quay.

EDIT: Oh, almost forgot, the UK's oldest pub. Established about a thousand years ago, or something, though obviously the building has been renovated repeatedly since then.

Don't go there. It used to be really good, but then they tried to make it posh, and now it's shit.

Tomb raider was apparently origionally created in Derby, I believe that is why there is a road named after Lara there. according to wikipedia "The city has Roman, Saxon and Viking origins." which is kind of interesting and is certainly something which ought to be mentioned whenever someone asks the question "what have the Romans ever done for us?" vikings are cool also, what with their fascinating mythologies and history of using ingenious techeniques to navigate the sea, find new lands and found colonies and such like. I can't think of anything interesting about the saxons at the minute and im too tired to read anything anymore so it's probably best to move on..

Burton on trent is the self proclaimed brewing capital of England, its also where the marmite food extract company was formed and may well be where the spreadis still produced.

Mary queen of scotts was once imprisoned at Tutbury castle.

I live in the last place in the world that I actually want to live.

But, I live near Toronto in the province of Ontario which is a much more interesting place. Here is a fun fact, there are more people that live in Toronto than in Canadas four Atlantic Provinces combined. Which is New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland/Labrador and Nova Scotia. So basically, I live near way to many fucking people. Toronto's population is 2,615,060.
