Explosive Barrels: why they exist and more importantly why they're like hanging out at the Malt Shop for bad guys...
Barrels like that exist, seen plenty myself, but the second part is spot on... when these barrels are stored it is in buildings designed to take the blast of one exploding. Never are they just left laying around, and indeed heads would roll if they where just piled out in the streets or other places where people would die if a smoker flicked a cig the wrong way.
What barrels have you seen around? And maybe you should be changing professions. Because I'm pretty sure barrels like those in Half Life 2 and other shooters are a bit of an exaggeration... gas tanks etc don't explode when shot- or even the ol' cigarette in the gas trail doesn't work. Neither is hot enough.
*gives you a loaded gun and puts an explosive barrel next to you*

Go ahead. Prove your point. Of course, if you're wrong... kaboom!

Any time in a game when you have to walk off the beaten path because something like a door is locked, even though you have a variety of weapons that could easily blow through it.

Also Black Mesa's clear disregard for OSHA regulations in the original Half-Life.

And in Tales of Symphonia, the Pope's trained soldiers fail to kill the heroes. So he sends 3 convicts wearing patchwork clothing and armed with wooden clubs to kill them instead. Brilliant.

It doesn't make any sense that in plenty of games you can turn your back and then when you turn around again, somehow enemies have respawned. Reinforcements from another dimension perhaps?
SSSH! The other dimension trick is supposed to be a secret!

I love how when you do a puzzle or something outside the game where the menu is brought up, all the enemies wait for you to finish (bioshock)

I also hate how you walk over something and automatically gain health (half life+every other game)

I hate when you hit an wall and can't jump over it, or when you can't go off a path. You should be able to do that

The most illogical thing to me is level design. In prince of persia, why are there always platforms the exact distance away from you as you can jump? Also, in almost every boss battle ever, the bad guy stabs his sword into the ground, misses, and has to take 30 seconds to get them out while you beat him to death (fable).

Another illogical thing, is how you always have to kill people. When bad guys see you, why do they always kill you? Can't you talk it out?

Videogames are always illogical, otherwise they wouldn't be fun.

The most illogical thing is no matter how much frustration video games cause us, we still play them.

if mayrunes (sp?) dagon is the super elite bad guy evil omni demon god king of TES:IV, how come when he makes his dramatic entrance, he just kinda stands there and stomps on guards instead of actually destroying the world as we know it like the Mythic Dawn thought he would do? Im pretty sure the Mysterium Zarxies or whatever it was called couldn't be summed up as:
And our dark lord shall arrive in all of his divine fury and smite those wicked imperial guards by standing there and stomping on them with his almighty divine hoof until the Main Character and his worthless sidekick turn said worthless sidekick into a bigass dragon and end the game!

Why the fuck is there random bits of ammo and herbs in resident evil 4?

No one even uses guns, the crossbow is the closest thing. It also doesn't change the fact there is ammo and health littered round in the oddest of places
Well to be fair if there was no ammo or herbs to pick up Leon would have had to use his knife for the rest of the game, if he could survive that long.

OT: I've been playing Oblivion nonstop, and well it annoys me of all the retarded things it has. Despite trying to HELP them, characters still won't tell you information until you fuck around with the persuasion wheel. Or guards have instinct to know EXACTLY when you're tresspassing into a house. Or those gates you sometimes have to open in Oblivion planes that you couldd easily fit through you STILL have to go open a damn switch. There are much more but I'm not gonna waste time listing them all.

Why after 10 years there is still only ONE Master Ball.
Well, the company that made the masterballs, SILPH Co, was shut down (by team rocket) before they were able to mass produce the masterballs. So the few that were ever made were distributed among important people in the pokemon world.

I believe that conflict had been solved for some time now. From what I can tell, Silph Co. is still making products, but there are competitors in other regions. All of whom have far greater tech in which to build them, they are just lazy!

Lets see... the aforementioned WoW quests, why in some if not all FPS's getting sniped in the foot kills you either instantly or almost instantly, how come some FPS characters cannot shoot and puch/throw a grenade/do anything else at the same time, even if the character has a dual-wieldable (sp?) weapon and is only carrying one, why dont some characters know how to jump, how WoW monsters fit those huge axes inside themselves...

I could go on.

According to the pokemon wiki, they discontinued the project after Team Rocket came and tried to take it. The working prototypes that were already made were distributed among esteemed pokemon researchers.

the biggest one for me is when a headshot doesnt insta kill, or when you have to unload an entire clip on guys to kill them (it increases the difficulty slightly.....not that games are much of a challange anymore anyway).

its really just awful when they do that, totally unessecary, there are plenty of better ways to increase game length...

Huh. It's still lazy. Don't you think it would benefit Team Rocket (or any 'Team' for that matter) to steal the blueprints and make it themselves? Oh wait, that would make the bad guys win, which is a no-no in the series.

I want a game where the bad guys win.

In most games, jumping off a ladder or building around two stories high either barely hurts you or doesn't hurt you at all. Do that in real life, I assure you that won't happen.
