So I'm going to London MCM this year for the first time with a few other Escapist members. Anyone else going to be there?

I'm really looking forward to going to (what I've been told is) a really REALLY big event and I'm sure I'll return home with a suitcase full of merch! Anyone who has been before have any thoughts on previous years?

4 days to go :D

I'm going to be there! If I can get the outfit made in time I'll be dressed as Zelda from Skyward Sword (the pink dress, not the white). Possibly not the most professionally made costume but I'm trying my best!

I've been going there twice a year since I was 16 (with the exception of one weekend when I was busy). I have to admit, it holds very little appeal for me now as a 23 year old in comparison to then as it's aimed at the younger crowd. And also because it's pretty much the same thing every time except with a few new games to try out and films to preview, so there's not much new stuff to do every time. But the first time I was there I remember thinking it was the most awesome thing I'd ever experienced.

And yes, the merch... I specifically don't take cash with me to cut down on the amount of stuff I can buy (although they've sneakily been adding more cashpoints inside the ExCeL Centre every year to thwart me) but if you're actually planning to spend lots of money and are happy with your decision... go nuts!

Oh and, don't forget to visit the indie comics section! Lots of talented artists there who need your cash. These people may or may not include my friends and my boyfriend.

Apprently the smaller ones are better, I haven't been to a London one yet so I cant compare but I hear people can be too.. Personal.

The MCMs I've been too have been great, I don't know how I'd fair in London.

Pull sad faces at the stall people, it's how I get a lot of my merch for cheaper. I think a few of them knock their prices down towards the end of the day or offer you discount if you're in Cosplay.

Don't be a girl and dress like a pony because weird people will corner your boyfriend while you're in the toilet and demand a threesome with you.

Are you sure you went to the right place, because being dressed as ponygirl is an entirely different convention. That kind of convention is full of weird people in the toilets and asking for a threesome is quite conventional there.

Sorry dude but that is too short notice for me. I mean my bro and his girlfriend did say I can stay over at the weekend at their place in London (and to go to the MCM) when they were over last Bank holiday week but when I look up the date it's this weekend, it's prety much too late for me (I have to book my days off in advances at work).

In saying so I will be going to the Manchester MCM this July (hopefuly cosplaying as Travis Touchdown but I doubt it).

First time going for me and i'm 24 should i be concerned about this younger crowd also i suddenly felt old... i'm not old dammit!

Still pretty excited going to meet someone very awesome and spend the day hanging out, never been to a convention of any kind before so it's a first all round for me =) not to mention first time wandering around London and using a train xD

I don't think you should be too concerned, there are a fair amount of twenty-somethingers that attend as well, just don't be surprised if there seems to be a lot of 14-16 year olds around! The stalls and events themselves aren't aimed at any age group in particular so we shouldn't feel left out or anything.

And as a Londoner, I say welcome! And please walk on the left in the train stations (except for at Green Park for some frustrating reason) and stand on the right on the escalators. (Seriously, PLEASE.)

Stand on the right on escalators? don't they just go up/down so why would you need to stand to the right ? sorry of this is a tarded question round here you're either on an escalator or not.

Stand on the right so people who want to get somewhere fast can walk up the left. Visitors not understanding tube station etiquette (yes, it is a thing) can be infuriating. The most annoying thing you could possibly do is stand in front of the tube doors when they open, people need to get off before you get on damn it! (not directed at you ofc, but I get annoyed sometimes).

London Expo is always fun, the cosplays are simply staggering, will be there this weekend if my friends have the money for it. Be forewarned though, during the busiest times of the day there is no room to walk in the main hall, it's a solid crush of people every time.

I live five minutes up the road from the thing and I can't go because I'll be at work. Grr.

Doubtless I'll run into that guy who always cosplays as Phoenix Wright in the nearby chicken shop again, though.

Ooookay this makes sense :) the escalators round here there is enough room for 1 person must be alot wider in london ^^

Yeah, they're two people wide here. They've got signs and everything telling you where to walk and where to stand to make it easier for everyone to get around the stations quickly but because so many people just don't see/ignore them it's a bit of a joke amongst Londoners that tourists are always standing on the wrong side of the escalators. :p

You're not going to get in big trouble for it or anything, but you may get yelled at if a particularly stressed out commuter is trying to hurry to their destination!

I'm going, I have my ticket printed and I plan to get so many street passes and merchandise. I'll give the UMVC3 tourney go as well.

That's what it's going to be like? I am dreading it already, I assume the worst part of these cons are the hyperactive "LOL XD :3" teens.

Saturday was too busy and Friday didn't have much on, the only good day was Sunday (because of last day reductions/haggling)

I much prefer smaller stuff like Sunnycon or Midland Mcm in Telford or Manchester Mcm

Is that a genuine anecdote? D:

OT: I'm thinking of going to Manchester Comicon with some friends and maybe my girlfriend.

I know people that go there every year, lets just say you would not be able to get me there even if you dragged me kicking and screaming. I can just imagine it overflowing with spaghetti and Naruto cosplayers.

Yep. I think they liked the look of him too. ;) I just laughed it off. There's weirdos all over the place, I'm good at dealing with them.

I'll be going to Manchester MCM if you're going! (I mean, if you are. I'm not going BECAUSE you might be going, I'm not obsessed with you yet) I'm probably stupidly cosplaying Twilight Sparkle this time cos it's the easiest to make out of my potential cosplays.

And uuhhh, when did you get some poon? ;)

Will be heading there with a friend on the Saturday, both of us in the Persona cosplay's we've been working on, going to check out a persona meet up she heard about, sad that I wont get to stay the whole weekend like I did in October last year for it but peoples schedules conflicted plus its a bank holiday weekend so hotels were crazy busy and prices sky-rocketed

Still gonna be fun to hang out with her again and hopefully meet some cool people like I did last time, honestly thats why I go to it, less about the show and the stalls (though do love checking those out) but a place to meet like minded individuals. Plus gonna be fun to see if I can top October's number for most 3DS street pass hits, crazy in there, got almost 200 over the weekend.

Hope the weather gets a little better by then and hey hope you have a great time!

Sunday. And since you've expressed interest, I'll be sure to update you when I've tapped that.

And don't worry, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for sex starved bronies while we're there. Get mah glare of intimidation on.
