The Baldurs Gate Trilogy
(Thats a mod that combines BG1 and BG2 + expansions to one epic game
using BG2s engine)
Unless you ultra speed run that it will take a while.
Im currently on my 2nd run btw. and Im still in BG1 with too many hours to count.
Where can you get that?

OT: FF7 was long and the paradox games are also pretty long.
Right here my good sir.

The most recent superlong games would be Dragon Age and Oblivion, probably, both have well over 50 hours of game in them.

Sins of a Solar Empire is also pretty goddamned long, as any given individual scenario can take half a fucking day.

Probably F1 2010.
It's an F1 racing game, so technically doesn't have an endpoint. You win the season and continue into three more for each single player stanza (for wont of a better word). However if we were calling one season the campaign, and ramp up race distance to 100% as I did (massive formula 1 anorak) then that's 18 races at about 90 minutes - 2 hours each, plus practice and qualifying times.....

F1 2010, if you were to do 100% races, as that's about and hour and 30 minutes of racing, then maybe add another hour and a half for the practice and qualifying sessions, for 19 races, for 3, 5, or 7 seasons.

Draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagon Age: Origins! Took alot of time with Orzammar(The Land of the American English), because there was alot of side quests in that place.

It took me 50+ hours to beat Dragon Age for the first time, so that's up there. The Etrian Odyssey games, The Dark Spire, and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey were also really long, about a month or so of pretty intensive playing, although they also required quite a lot of level grinding (especially Etrian Odyssey).
I think those are the longest games I've played.

Hard to judge if you're not including sidequests... I'll go with I wanna be the guy. Still working on that damn game. It's impossible!

Has to be Blue Dragon for the 360. Took me months of on and off playing to beat that.

Where can I find this?
I really got back into these recently but BG1 is not pretty on a 32" 1080p LCD widescreen with the limited resolutions. BG2 is more then playable, but I really would like to start at the begining.
EDIT- Nevermind, this was already answered.

OT - Probably BG2 or any game in the Total War series.

I remember thinking 20 minutes into FF7 "Ok, so we just blow up all 8 of these reactors, then probably fight through the Shinra building before the game ends. Cool."

1 hour in...
"When are we going back to reactor 3!??"

Metal Gear Solid 4, although not the longest game ever, was extended way longer than it should have been. *3 minute cinematic of Snake walking into an empty room*

In terms of main-quest driven game-time, Dragon Age:Origins has to be one of the longest 'recent' titles.
I would suggest we reflect on the fact that the Baldur's Gate 2 loading screens include reminders to players to eat and take a break. Seriously. It was that immersive and engaging. So many of the 'side-quests' were legitimate, well written quests that you rarely felt like you were on a grinder side-quest.

I think it was the first Witcher(the second one was considerably shorter and the story was worse but gameplay was much better) or Uncharted Waters New Horizons or Shining Force 2. All great games.
