In response to EdgeyX's thread on speed running, howabout a thread on procrastination? I often put off finishing games to goof off and screw around. Fallout 3 was great for this since the main story was the weakest part of the game, my boss put in hundreds of hours over just three characters. I did this in Mass Effect too. I had a 60 hour file in Mass Effect where I hadn't beaten the game yet. I literally squeezed out everything I could before completing it.

What game did you guys put off beating just so you could see everything it had to offer? What's the longest amount of time you ever stretched out of a game?

EDIT -- Oh and I don't know if it counts, but technically it took me 13 years to get the "Chaos Emerald" ending in Sonic 2. I never got it when I was a kid, I had to wait till I dug out my Sega Genesis just last year.

Are you counting when you just stop playing before actually beating it? If so Overlord I got it when it first came out, I've yet to beat it.

Well, I never beat Marrowind, but I had a hell of a lot of hours on it. Not sure if that counts.

Psychonauts. I got it about a year ago, got to the bit with the lungfish, got bored of it, didn't go on it again until last month. Then I got to the meat circus, and there it has paused again.

I added my Sonic story, So I guess we could count that? If you just got tired of the game though, that doesn't really capture the spirit of the game.

In A link to the past it took me a year to beat the dark world temple #2 because I couldn't figure out what that switch was. (the one that changed the water level)

I had over 67 hrs on Ogre Battle 64 playing it as often as possible and rushing as much as I could. That was a long ass game!

WoW or Fable II.

I'm into RPGs that waste my time :)

Come to think of it, it took me 3 years to get to 80 on my paladin. I have something around 30 days worth of playtime on him when I dinged 80. I know, I suck.

I am currently playing Final Fantasy X and trying to get all the Celestial Weapons and kill all the Dark Aeons.

I am nowhere near any of those being killed or found yet.

But probably the 300 hr save in Oblivion where I was exploring and a 200 hr save in Fallout 3.

Probably Morrowind, as most of the time I killed someone important or just didn't care about the main story and went and did everything else I could, then a few weeks after starting I'd just hike up to Vivec and
Kill Vivec then take his tools to the dwarf in Tel Fyr and then use them to go swat Dagoth Ur like an annoying fly.

I didn't get tired, I got a new game. And then another, and another, and another. I've got a backlogged list of unfinished games stretching back into the last gen systems.
