I bought Final Fantasy 8 on October 28th 1999. I've yet to complete it, despite replaying it every year since then. I always get distracted or lost or something.

As for games I've actually finished - erm, Oblivion took a while, again as a result of getting distracted with sidequests and other games.

Final Fantasy 12 has about 127 hours on it for me and I still can't beat the final boss. Also Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix +, I have had it for 3 years and I still can't beat Terra and all the Data Organization.

Oblivion took me awhile, mainly because the game glitched and the story questline disappeared from my questlog for about three months.

Completed Assassins Creed November 29, got it april 17.
That game took me 3 days, with no more than 2 hours of playing every day, I wish I'd taken time with it, it pissed the hell outta me, but I was doing it purely to complete it.

Longest is Prince of Persia for me... I've had it for what, 4 years, and I still haven't gotten through half of it.

i think i may win the thread. i used to play maniac mansion on the nes when i was 4 years old but could never finish. about 3 or 4 years ago i played it again using a walkthrough from gamefaqs and beat it. so technically it took me about 17 years to finish that game.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends. FIVE YEARS.

I bought it, played it for a few hours, but then stopped because I had to get up early in the morning (we were moving house the next day). Movers were crap, and a bunch of stuff got lost or broken. I forgot about the game in the move, didn't find it unpacking so my memory was not jogged, and five years later I found it in an old chest of jew gold random bits and bobs. That day, my life was changed forever. I played the game all day, from the bit where you first get to Sailor's Isle right the way until Yafutoma, and then my mum came in and told me I'd been on the thing for like 15 hours, and it was time to stop. Just then there was a cutscene and she happened to watch, just as the giant ship battle began. When she saw the ships shooting each other and all the people being killed, my mom got scared, and said, "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air." I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought, "Nah, forget it. Yo, holmes to Bel-Air!" I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabbie, "Yo homes smell ya later!" Looked at my kingdom I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air.

On straight play, I logged over 300 hours on Pokémon Ruby. That game rubbed me the right way...

You sure, have won teh internets.

Longest I recall was Dragon Quest 7. It took me about 8 months to just beat the final boss.

Every game I have ever played to be honest. I always start a game, play mildly for a few days, and then stop playing it, usually because I don't feel like playing it.
Over half of my game collection remains unbeaten.
Mass Effect 2 is going to be beaten in one long sitdown. I swear it.

Probably Oblivion.

I just didn't finish the last quest for a long time. I knew what was going to happen but I wanted to do lots of side quests and leveling up before doing it.

The original Sonic games and Quackshot for the Mega Drive. Been playing them since I was around 4, still never got to the end of one.

It took me 10 years to beat LoZ:OoT. The forest temple scared the tar outta me when I was little and kept me from playing it. Then I forgot about it for a while.

I got pissed off by Fallout 3, then I came back for more about a year later.

And if you can count the account deletion screen as a final boos (which you really kind of can lol) then the longest literally would be World of Warcraft.

What a coincidence, I was playing Twilight Princess today. How do you do that bit in the third dungeon, the underwater temple, when you pull the switches to rotate the stairs?
