FFVII. I played it when someone got it for my birthday when I was 11, then stopped. Four years later, after hqving become a much more serious gamer, completed FFVIII and FFIX, I went back to it, finished it in two days and spent most of the time trying to remember where I had left the plot.

Super Mario Bros.? Had since the latter half of the nineties, never got past World 6, honestly.
That, or Ocarina of Time. I never bothered finishing a total playthrough, but I've somehow managed to experience the entire game by finishing someone else's save.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer

Got it in 99 and finished it last year. Nine years is my record. Not counting games I never finished of course.

Took me over 6 years to beat FFVIII.

I got it when I was 9 for Christmas but it was too complicated.

I played it again when I was 14, after buying a new copy.

Got to the last boss and couldn't beat her.

Played again a few months later, after finding out how to junction all the best stuff.

Finally beat it.

It might sound funny but LBP.

Its not that it was really hard, or bad, but every time I'd pass a level, try 2-3 on the next one, get bored and go build myself a better one. It took over a month for me to get around to beating it once and for all.

What? daw....

Just for killing the final boss/ending the story: Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. I took a break in the middle of it for some unknown reason and got back into it half a year later. Took me about 7 months for a relatively short game because of that.

If you count full completion... Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness again. I just now feel I've finished it as I've beaten all the extra bosses, gotten all the songs, every ending, etc. I jsut recently got the last Ultimate weapon in that game so I'm counting that as done. Now, Disgaea 2... I'll be working on that...
