Two part question.

1. If you could take one single videogame back in time to the 8 bit era to show how great our games are, which one would you take?
2. If you could take any object/invention back in time to show people what would it be and what time period would you travel to?

There would be no paradoxes and this won't have any effect on the timeline. Everyone forgets what they saw and you just get to savour their reactions until you return.

Game: Hmm, probably bioshock or something. Half the brilliance of that game is the awe of it; in the 8-bit era everyone will move to ball-town, and let me tell you, they will be trippin' everywhere!

Invention: A pc. Holy crap, it's a magic box!

eh, not the most interesting or original question ever, but still, its a nice way of getting an idea of what people think is the pillar of gaming and technology.

i am tempted to say fallout 2, but its not really a game you can show for shock effect, its meant to be played, so i guess it would be a game like uncharted 2, far from a favourite of mine, but even i was impressed with the graphics of it, and it still looks enough like a game that it wouldn't be mistaken for IRL footage.

as for technology, i guess the internet back to the 80s, along with a modern pc so i could actually present it, the reason i would choose the 80s is that it would still be as amazing as if i took it back to year 24, but with the added awesomeness that most of the people would live to see, use and become depended on it.

1. I wouldn't, because they're not. Instead I'd grab a game from the past, take it forward and release it now. Mercenary springs to mind.

2. I'd take the wheel and show it to the people who made the first wheel, just to show them that shit really ain't gonna change all that much.

Game: Silent Hill 2. It would be unlike anything of that time, and pretty awesome to boot.

Thing: Laptop... Look ma! no hands wires! Preferably with internet connection.

On a related note, how far back would we have to go for people's heads to asplode in amazement?

World of Warcraft with a direct link to a modern populated server, to see their reactions to so many players in one game. As for part B, a Harrier jet to the crusades. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?

Part 1) I'd take back Super Mario Bros. The very first one, just as a laugh to see how deflated people get at the apparent lack of technological progress.
Part 2) I'd take a Challenger 2 back to the Norman invasion of 1066.

I think about this every time I see a period movie. Especially war ones. I'd love to waltz up to Churchill with a copy of Battle of Britain say... a month after the Blitz ended...

It wouldn't fool anyone. The 8-bit era gamers would spot the bare bones story in an instant.

I would take a tesla coil to Ancient Greece and claim to be zeus. For laughs. Many many laughs.

Not sure for a game.

Probably HL2. Don't know why, maybe prepare the story juices flowing for future games.

I would also take back the cheese slicer. I f*****g love cheese and it's a shame they did not invent this sooner than they did. Good on you Norwegians.

Ehh... The internet existed in the 80s. Most of the standardization in a form we could consider the internet opened to the public in 82, was global by the late 80s, was actually termed the internet in the late 80s. The first ISPs where formed in the early 80s as well.

You're going to take Super Mario Bros, an 8 bit game, back to the....8 bit era?

Somehow I think they will be less than amazed.
That was his reason for doing it :p

i'd take whatever has the major aspect of WOAMGWTF bling bling graphics and shit. Once the fraud is exposed, the world can get back to making really good high brow games.

And I'd probably take a machine gun back to the Dark Ages. I'd be a god or something
