I would highly recommend Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2. In terms of developer content NWN2's expansion entitled 'Mask of the Betrayer' is excellent. Extremely replayable with numerous endings and a good amount of player choice. Very solid experience and one worth every rpg fans time.

Perhaps more importantly however there are hundreds of player campaign out there for the NWN series, 1 and 2 both, that are brilliant in their own regards and completely free. Owning and enjoying the Neverwinter Nights series just opens an entirely library of possibilities. If you do end up picking up the games let me know and I'd even be happy to recommend a few of my favourite mods that place a good priority on player choice.

And odd as it might sound thank you for replying to the topic. Nothing annoys me more than someone who makes a 'recommend me ____' then doesn't even take the time to reply to those giving suggestions.

TES Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind are the best PC RPGs you can get I think...and Arena and Daggerfall are free :)

Neverwinter Nights is also good.

Alpha Protocol

Despite all the flak it gets, it really does amazing work with choice/consequences.
It does an extraordinary job at that. You can never tell what the consequences might be. It has an insane replay value because of that. Too bad PC version is so bugged.
And the ending is so horrible. I loved Alpha Protocol, but I'll never replay it because of the ending.
My ending wasn't too bad - only played it through the once though, and I gather the ending you get is obviously heavily influenced by the choices you made throughout the game.

Anywho, count me as another +1 for Alpha Protocol. Like KOTOR2 it's flawed, but it's got a hell of a lot of redeeming qualities.

This is just one of them:

Thats why I regard it as an underated game. Me and 2 other people I knew played it and our last hour experiences were incredibly different, both in terms of whom we faced and what the outcome was.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. Nearly unplayable straight out of the box, but the fan patch fixes that. One of the best RPGs ever.

I can't be bothered checking if someone's said it but Neverwinter Nights seemed to fit what you're describing when I played it.

Temple of Elemental Evil definitely fits the bill.

As others have said:
Planescape: Torment
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2
Icewind Dale might fit the bill, didn't play enough of it to know. (there's two)
Fallout 1 & 2
Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
