Looking around online, but there are so many to choose from. You guys know any good ones I could buy? I don't care how old the game is as long as it is fun.

EDIT: No free ware games please. I understand there are some good ones out there, but I prefer to pay for my games up front, and then never have to pay for another thing in them again.

Magicka is $10 on Steam and might well be my favorite game of 2011 so far. It has a demo you can try first if you need convincing.

Your first choice should be Steam. The on-sale tab lists a bunch of cheap-ish titles; once you find one that looks promising, check some reviews (often available in the game page) to see if it fits your preference.

If you can handle 2D graphics, I suggest checking the best-seller list at Good Old Games. Almost everything there is <$10, and almost everything there is worth a gander.

My recommended third, and final, place is Gamer's Gate. They have 70 games on sale right now.

If you can't find something interesting between the three of them... well, I don't know what to tell you.

Team Fortress 2 is free now. Kicks ass man, best FPS on the market, in my opinion of course.

I hadn't heard of Gamer's Gate. Thanks for that. I'll check that out.

But the problem is that there are so many games to choose from, that I don't know which one of them is worth the money. Hence the thread.

Dude, I've been playing tf2 BEFORE it went all free to play (adjusts hipster glasses). Setting scouts on fire has been one of my favorite hobbies since 2009.

good suggestion though.

Well, you should get the new humble bundle if you haven't already. Binding Of Issac is also supposed to be good, though disturbing.

Good man! I'm new to it but I've been topping leader boards consistently.
I dunno how cheap it is but check out like Rome, Medieval 2 or Empire Total War. Great grand strategy games with an easy learning curve. I just Shogun 2 and it's restarted the burning love I have for the Total War series.

I can recommend Space Pirates and Zombies. Nice and addicting game about pirates... in space... with Zombies!

Rebuild. Survival-Horror meets Sim City. Really fun and 100% free.

GoG.com. The Baldur's gate series, Planescape: Torment, the original fallout games, and so much more it hurts!

No games over $10 (Witcher 2 for $30, and that's a special case) and not a singple spec of DRM.

For something plot heavy how about Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition is available for $7.50 at Direct2Drive at the moment:

For something action packed, there's Painkiller: Black Edition for $4.98:

For something indie and quirky with lots to discover, how about Terraria for $9.99:

Go to Steam.

Click the "under $10" or "under $5" tabs.

The top sellers are usually top selling for a reason - everything there is totally worth the chump change.

Edit: Get the recently released "The Binding of Isaac." It's by (half of) the team who made Super Meat Boy and it's a punishingly hard, delightfully quirky and seriously dark take on dungeon crawlers/RPGs/roguelikes/twin-stick shooters. It's great. Get it on Steam. NAO.

And my solution is, anything with positive buzz and a genre you like is probably worth the money. With so many good options, you really can't go wrong.
