heh, as I'm doing a Computer Forensics course, I'm supposed to know what a lot of this means, and google fills in the rest of the blanks. I looked mainly at the 2 things that actually matter: the processor and the operating system:
Well the fact that it's FSB based might make it obsolete faster than you'd think, especially with HyperTransport technology already present. If you're overclocking that particular one, there could be bottlenecking issues, so you probably won't get the 4GHz you're expecting out of that, if you do indeed know how to overclock a system properly without destroying it. Also it's only single core... which with an Intel system especially, you'd usually want a dual or quad core, they tend to be more efficient. The advanced technologies in there you probably won't use anyway... But otherwise it's alright. Hell, I use an FSB system at 2.4GHz dual core, but it's a laptop, so that's pretty good :p
As for the OS: Vista Home 64 bit? Well it's not quite as flash as Vista Pro... but that's pretty much the only difference, so you pretty much saved yourself 70 quid for the priviledge of animated backgrounds :p nice.
But for the most part... it's nothing to really jump over the moon about, or force me to read that epic waaaaaall
The motherboard bundle I'm buying come's pre oc'd from 2.6 to 4.0 so thankfully I wont make it explode by tinkering with it. I wouldnt even dare as I really dont have a clue how to do it. Well I know its nothing to write home about, just that it will be capeable of handling the currnet and futrue gaming market for a while at least.

It's light years ahead of my current system though and thats why I'm so excited =D thanks for the advice tho :)
don't worry mate, it's still a pretty good system. I was just pointing out the flaws so you didn't get too ahead of yourself :)

hehe fair enough =P might be ordering it in the next hour or so..... I cant wait O.O
:O exciting times! it's always exciting buying a new computer :p

...So is this a laptop or a desktop?

All I can say is... DO WANT! Seriously, I wish I had the money to build an e-monstrosity like that. I mean, I'd give a kidney for that...

That build should work very well, very high performance, decent enough price (as far as high performance computers go) but you might want to be wary of that graphics coupled with that monitor if you plan on playing crysis - for everything else it'd be fine.

I know from experience btw, I bought that exact monitor just 3 days ago (*high five*) and crysis warhead +4870 is only barely playable on medium (still looks good though)

You just had to go and ruin it now didn't you. Why would you intentionally put malware on such a sweet set up?
He didn't ruin it he made it much better. If My com had that crappy old operating system that people are desperatley holding on to, even though its buggy and slow, then it wouldnt work anywhere near aswell. I would have to wait forever to actually be able to do anything. Within 1 year of using XP it got slow, granted there were several games on there but they were all fairly low tech games. 1 year of having Vista no problems, same games installed and same specs as the old com. It takes only 2 minutes at most to log on, and be able to start using a program or play a game. I never was able to log on that quickly with XP even when it was brand new.

EDIT: On topic, that's going to be one mighty computer you are going to have there. I just hope for your sake that you like the games that you are going to get for it.

Considering how you're wasting your money on a Core i7 instead of a gaming CPU, I don't understand why you aren't buying a nicer monitor. It's relatively small and only goes up to 1080p.

i only understood the processor and graphics card bit, but a well deserved "Holy shit!" is in order. if you pull this off it will be like "The cadillac of PC's"

Also, i disagree with the statement that vista is crap for gaming. I have vista home, and i have a multitude of games that run at top notch graphics and performance.
