Well... ya say that.pulse2 said:Anon tries to be a worlds saviour, but without basic organisation within it's own group, all that is meaningless. They have no idea what each other are doing. They should take a page from the freemasons, if you want to form a secret worldwide group, make sure it's done properly.
On the other hand, the Geth also had the Heretics which were trying to wipe out all life or something. And the fact that you were given two choices on how to deal with them. Repogram them, thereby taking away any kind of freedom they might have had, or just destroy all of them, killing everyone who didn't fit with the 'collective'.bibblles said:Well... ya say that.pulse2 said:Anon tries to be a worlds saviour, but without basic organisation within it's own group, all that is meaningless. Have you played Mass Effect 2? And encountered Legion? Many voices talking at once, but with superaluminal communication comes clarity. Hundreds of people putting in information and ideas, and only because they can communicate between hundreds of people in an instant can any sort of consensus be formed.
There is very much the idea that anonymous has very few true 'hackers' and most of their actions have been the computer equivalent of swinging a sledge hammer at the problem. I like to compare it to a dog sled, just the one person who really knows how to do anything, but lots of force that can be very easily instructed how to have an impact.
Especially when it comes from the "inside"Choppaduel said:Just goes to show: no one is hack proof.
I can see the legion comparison, but to me, there is a much better one.bibblles said:Well... ya say that.pulse2 said:Anon tries to be a worlds saviour, but without basic organisation within it's own group, all that is meaningless. That's the thing about Anonymous. If you say that you're Anonymous, you are. So them leaving a file saying that Anonymous did it, regardless of the motive behind it, means that Anonymous did it.XHolySmokesX said:Hey has anyone realised that, anonymous aren't even behind the Sony hack.
Whoever hacked Sony wanted everyone to think it was anonymous because it's a believable story.
Also Sony happens to be one of the 2 main home console companies (excluding the Wii as it's more of a spin off to the traditional console) with the other being Microsoft, who reported record profits after the hack.
little bit of food for thought there, let the conspiracies begin ^_^
I was talking about the architecture inside legion, the idea that because he is a computer and can instantly communicate with another runtime within the frame, he can reach a consensus in a timeframe that people could not. And because anon uses computers they can hold massive IRC voting sessions and discussions on topics in timeframes that a traditional vote could not do.On the other hand, the Geth also had the Heretics which were trying to wipe out all life or something. And the fact that I chose to reprogram them, thereby taking away any kind of freedom they might have had.snip
So yeah. Analogy backfire.
We can only hope. We don't need no water let the mother F-er burn.TheComedown said:Anon infighting nice. Won't be long before the whole joint goes up in flames.
Haha I dig it and will attempt to spread it around. So much better then hearing users whine about anon (ops or otherwise).XHolySmokesX said:Hey has anyone realised that, anonymous aren't even behind the Sony hack.

I'm sure we could draw comparisons to video game characters all day (not that I'd mind), but claiming they are without a redeeming trait sounds a bit unrealistic to me, rather it seems a bit joyless.CM156 said:I can see the legion comparison, but to me, there is a much better one.bibblles said:Well... ya say that.pulse2 said:Anon tries to be a worlds saviour, but without basic organisation within it's own group, all that is meaningless. Ever played Neverwinter Nights 2, Mask of the Betrayer?
The sole evil companion is a undead construct of thousands of damned souls, held together in a spirit bear husk. They speak in a high whisper of an incomprehensible language. They have a spokesperson at the head, the ?One? and they are the ?Many?.

Evil without a single redeeming trait? Sounds like Anon to me.

Think about it though, they have no sense of order. They do whatever they feel like, whenever they feel like it, no matter the cost to others. To me, that is selfish, and selfishness is not cool.bibblles said:I'm sure we could draw comparisons to video game characters all day (not that I'd mind), but claiming they are without a redeeming trait sounds a bit unrealistic to me, rather it seems a bit joyless.CM156 said:I can see the legion comparison, but to me, there is a much better one.bibblles said:Well... ya say that.pulse2 said:Anon tries to be a worlds saviour, but without basic organisation within it's own group, all that is meaningless. I wouldn't dare go so far as to say they're the 'good guys' but they are most defiantly the 'cool guys.' They've got good motives, and they've provided great lulz even if at best they're computer tough guys, and at worst actual terrorists.
