I played it. It's a good first MMO, but it's not a good one. Go to it if you want an MMO, don't want to waste money and don't mind its graphics.

And someone mind posting a screenshot?

lol i didnt like it because you had to keep doing the same thing over and over to progress and when you did progress you just ended up doing the same thing against bigger foes. quests were random like the chef who asks for ingredients of the drunk pirate. good times

Runescape has the best quests in the whole MMO genre......

:D
oh fie. its free/cheap to play. what do you expect? Squeenix grade graphics?
I wasnt complaining baout graphics....
i was making a point about unreasonable assumptions.
How is runescape having the best quests of any MMO is unreasonable?
YOU WEREN'T BEING SARCASTIC??! (mindblown)
No no i wasnt, im fully serious.

Look at every other MMO.

"HELLO THEE ADVENTURERZ, there is trouble around, kill 5 wolfs to stop this great evil"

That is basically all the thought that is put into MMO quests, but runescape acctually is more than Killing 5 wolves, sometimes you have to think for a bit, find stuff you know, solve puzzles, get through a challenge, but there are ofcourse also those bad delivering quests, but its not as bad as killin 5 wolves to save the world.
touche. i guess necessity Is the mother of invention.

I logged in the other day to have a look around. It looks like they've added some cool new stuff, but I can't be bothered to start playing again now I'm so out of the loop and have no friends on it.

I do however still have around 5 million in gold and items if I ever do want to play again.
i can has secret? i never got above 300k :(
Make arrow shafts from normal logs. I sold them for 10 gold each, and I think you get 10 from each log figures might be off though...has been a while since I played. If you have a little start up cash log into a free world, go to some place (was near Port Sarim I think...west of Lumbridge) and pay newbies 10 gold for each log they bring you. At one point I had a dozen people constantly bringing me logs. Knife them into shafts and sell to fletchers on the forums in bulk.

Later on when you've made a few 100k browse the forums and get a sense of what the prices are for high value items. When I made my cash Torag Hammers sold between 1 million and 1.2 million. Buy a pair of hammers at 1 million and then advertise them in game and on forums for 1.2 million. I did this countless times, and people still bought them. Not sure what you would buy/sell now though.

And yeah...that was the easiest way I found to make money. It wasn't enough for a full set of dragon, but it got me some shiney things.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I still play this game. (Admittedly not as much as I used to, but my games collection has increased tenfold since I started)
and I'm also not ashamed to admit I kind of like level/xp grinding.

OT: Dungeonerring is fun, but I do feel they need to expand it so it has an effect on some other parts of the game. Atleast they are (FINALLY) releasing content to non-members players.

Jesus, I can't believe this game is still around. I was a member back when the game was 2D, I remember the big announcement that they were going to make it 3D.

i started just after "runescape classic" and left when i reached the mid levels and realised that most quests were for low levels or high levels. i got stuck there and then got frustrated at being forced to grind my way out and left.

Runescape is fun for grinding, but I always felt inferior to everyone else. Probably because I never payed for a subscription so I could never actually reach the top.

Still, the 'feel' that the game has is something I'll always remember. Don't think anything they could do to thee game would make me wanna go back, unless it became free to play with no micro-transactions (I don't care if ads are all over the page).

For now it will remain nostalgia.

Ah yes, I remember Runescape. I honestly don't care how mediocre it was, it was free, and fun to play when you were with friends, and/or stoned.

I wonder if they've updated the free quests list since I quit like 2 or 3 years ago. That'd be a nice surprise.

Ah Runescape...Eh
I use to play it when I was in middle school, mainly because of:
A: You could play it from school computers
&
B: There were a lot of people in my school who played (A couple of guys had there own guild and there was a girl I knew who was a complete ***** online)

Of course now in high school, it's rare to see someone play that game, you have more of a chance of seeing some people play yugioh in the library then play runescape. I tried again for a bit last year before school ended, but then I remembered why I left it, I just couldn't waste my time on something as weak as Runescape.
Not to offend anyone but, I just can't like Runescape

let me tell you a story.
i was low on cash one day so went to hunt low levels in the wilderness. of course i left my Zamorak trimmed Rune armour in the bank and wore some bronze platemail that i had made. as i entered Edgevile and was about to enter the wilderness another player walked up to me. initiated a trade. and handed me 16 sets of full rune armour and a Dragon Longsword.

needless to say that i sold 15 of the sets, kept one as a memento and the Dragon Longsword became my signiture weapon.

i never saw that player again.

I played rune in the sixth grade. Me and my friends used it to chat so as not to raise our phone bill through the roof

Runescape is probably the only game I ever consistently play, give up on, come back to, play, and give up on again. I'm about five days away from my give up on stage again.

Assuming I don't renew again.
