Never, no good can come out of anyone knowing. No one knowing also has the advantage of keeping you well grounded.
I would certainly buy a modest house, and a modest car and tell a white lie about where I work, quitting my current job in the process that I certainly don't enjoy (but is well paid enough to excuse some purchasing decisions if I pace myself). I'd take my friends on holidays and such, making sure to always be the organiser so I can lie about prices so they feel they are attaining a bargain and I'm covering the excess.
Plus it would speed up my dream of becoming a writer (and the main barrier at the moment is the money to set up) and once I'm successful at that I've got an excuse for buying more lavish things for myself and others.
I always find it funny the mentality behind lottery winners, you wouldn't beg someone who had a high paying job but there seems to be an acceptability that because someone was gifted extraordinary luck you should be able reap also.
