Lucas Re-Releasing Star Wars Movies in 3D

Hey, I'm a fan of the prequels, but...

None of them were actually filmed in 3D, right? So it's going to be fake 3D, and probably look terrible? No thanks.

I just might go and see episodes 4 through 6, though, since I foolishly didn't catch those on the big screen when I had the chance in 1997.

Movies filmed using normal cameras do not transition well to 3D. I believe that was the problem with Clash of the Titans. You have to use the proper equipment for it to be smooth and actually immersive.

And I think 3D only works for spectacle films, where there is a lot of detail in the anvironment, like Avatar. Star Wars doesn't really have a lot to show of. The first film had no effect budget, none of the originals did. The "bats" in the space worm that the Millenium Falcon landed in were scrunched up black paper on strings. The flaws will only be more apparent in high definition 3D.

Of all the films in the trilogy you can convert to a 3D film first, you picked THE PHANTOM MENACE?

George Lucas, I am disappoint.

They are doing them in order, ALL of them.

What a shame. If you release them AGAIN then atleast have the decency to cut out all that unobligatory CGI bullshit that you added the last time to the old trilogy.

Does anybody else realize how stupid the original SW trilogy would look? Don't get me wrong, I love the models, but let's not pretend that seeing something that is essentially a large muppet in 3D wouldn't be the most ridiculous thing of all time. Also, JarJar in 3D. There, are you vomiting pure hatred now?

ok... i´m going to say that when lucas stated a new release of the whole saga of star wars i was unnimpressed, and then he say "5 secconds of never seen before footage" the geek inside me jumped in exitement, but i mannaged to supress him

and... well... this just feels like a kick to the gut!

i mean, previously i made up excuses for lucas "its a new idea" "its a re imagining for the series" "its to make it more kid friendly" so on and so forth

but... this is obviously such a cash out that i swear i will never put any interest in the Star Wars Franchize EVER.

On the one hand, the movies have been tinkered with a lot already, and 3D isn't going to make Han not shooting first any less infuriating. But on the other hand, it's a chance to see the movies in theaters again, which is always exciting.

Yeah, this is sort of what I'm thinking of. While the films have already been tinkered to shit and I guess there's nothing going to stop George Lucas from screwing it up even more. I will however get to take my kid to see Star Wars like I did. At the cinemas. Though I'm going to skip the first three and wait while the originals come out to the cinema. I think the prequels would ruin the whole "No, I am you father" part of empire.

The CGI just ruined it. The added CGI seemed out of place next to the real models.

Ugh. Why can't they just leave Star Wars alone? I wish someone had tied George Lucas up while Avatar was in cinemas or something. At least they're releasing it in episodic order, because I wouldn't touch I-III, and if they suck, then I know not to watch IV-VI. Not that I'm that certain I will anyway, although I'm kind of curious to see how they'll turn out.

I'm actually looking forward to this new release. It had ought to convince people that, with no exceptions, movies converted to 3D do not look good. It's just a fact.

Ah well, its just another movie being released that I'm not interested in. I'll stick to my origional (and better) dvds of the first three movies

About the only thing I'm looking forward to in this are the two Death Star runs (epsd 4 and 6), but will I pay to see it in the theaters, again.....

I'll skip 1-3 but it would be nice to see 4-6 in theater, especially if I can find one without 3D. I do have to say though that ep4's opening would be cool in 3D if it was done perfectly.
