I take pride in my abilities to come up with parallel stories to what actually happened, so I lie whenever I get the opportunity. I've gotten quite good at it.

When it comes to Lying, I'm a selfish bastard. I will lie on the spot (usually by playing dumb, I'm really good at that) to get myself out of trouble.

I will not lie about my opinion though. Someone asks if I love it or hate it, even it it means something to them, if I hate it, I'll tell them I hate it.

Lies to protect yourself from others? All the time.
"Little white" lies to protect others from you? Out of the question.

I'm weird like that.

Anyone one else think that it is hilarious? This thread is essentially asking a lier to tell the truth about lying? Recently a girl asked me if i'm a lier, I said no (I lied through my teeth) she bought it, I then pointed out what is the point of asking a supposed lier a question that involves the truth. The circular reasoning is rather funny to me.

I do not lie. I do however, feel no remorse about allowing others to assume or extrapolate incorrectly. If confronted, I will always respond with the logical retort "You never asked". If specified, I will respond truthfully.
This behavior is taken to its logical extreme in games of intrigue, allowing me to make very specific agreements, alliances, and deals, and yet manipulate other players in ways they fail to anticipate. This has lead to me being regarded by those who play against me frequently, as some Mephistophelean figure.

In everyday occurances and in relationships and what not, I never lie, it just fucks everything up.

Now, when me and my buddy go fly off to college towns to party (we're both pilots, and have our own plane.) We will make up a background story for our trip.

A few...

We're snowplow drivers from Colorado, down in [insert city here] for a fun weekend.

We're cowboys from Wyoming getting our commerecial pilots license and decided to stop in [insert city here]

Department of Defence contractors who were looking for recruits, but decided on a night out

Missionaries practicing flying for our depolyment overseas where we'll be bush pilots

and many more...

I rarely lie, although I still do it from time to time. I try to act honestly to others. I guess people who follow the rules don't need to lie.

Well, little white lies and half truths may be told if there's a sticky situation. I'm not proud of it, but I'm a good liar.

However, with that great power comes also great responsibility. So I tell the truth as much as possible.

And I don't lie to my girlfriend. Never. Ever! She finds out, and then I'm in so deep shit that I have to shovel feces for a week just to get my head over it.

I try not to outright lie, but if it suits my purposes I'll mislead them or misrepresent the truth. So it's not technically lying, I usually just make it appear to be other than what it is.

I hate lying, and apparently I am quite bad at it. I'm not saying I haven't lied (i'm sure everyone has told a white lie at some point) but I tend to avoid it when possible. I don't like ripping people off, and I don't like it when people lie to me, so I try and treat people the way I want to be treated. I also don't make promises I know I can't keep.

I lie to protect the status quo, to buy time, and to avoid disappointing someone. I also do the "I'm fine/I'm good/I'm doing well" response almost on instinct now despite the fact that it's rarely true.

When absolutely necessary I will lie my ass off. My memory is too bad for lying though, too much hassle to try and keep a story straight so default to the truth.

The only lies i can do are so-called 5-second lies. Basically, to me i tell something, and a bit later, i tell it was a joke. Sometimes people find it funny, other times they want to slap me. What can i do about it, if i was born this way ???

Also, about real lying: i really can't do it. I mean, i can't tell someone over the phone a normal lie. For example, i once was playing D&D with my pals, and one of the players who wasn't there called me and asked me if another friend was near. Yes he was ,but he really wanted me to say that he wasn't , so that's what i did. And the outcome was pathetic: i panicked, felt ridiculously guilty and mumbled something about him being "somewhere" and quickly hung off the phone. I just can't lie such a thing, it makes me feel bad, i guess. Even a day after that, i still remembered doing that and felt bad. That's my personality and i can't change it.
