Err, yeah. Can we please not even entertain the thought of discussing Macs in the area of games? It's too painful for even me to watch unfold.
Oh come on.
Out of the realm of legitimate debate and into personal preference?
There is no legitimate debate about Mac gaming.
Just like all the official support for the latest Nvidia and ATI cards (hell, even the ones that came out half a year ago), it doesn't exist.
I use my mac for gaming simply because I have not had enough interest in dealing with a PC again, yet. Even so, I will agree that no mac user should be under any delusions about the fitness of a mac vs a PC for gaming; PCs currently are better for gaming, period. That said, it turns out that the mac hardware is capable of providing an adequate gaming experience for some, while the more hardcore, top-performance minded gamers will find the experience woefully lacking(anything less than 60+ fps with all settings maxed, including anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, is unacceptable). Given that one can buy a single machine and be able to run Mac OS X, Linux, and obtain a reasonable gaming experience under Windows(via bootcamp; virtualization sucks for gaming), the mac is not entirely an unreasonable choice for some individuals.
While the mac is definitely lacking in support for the latest graphics cards, this is a situation that is not guaranteed to be permanent. Though that doesn't really change the current status, I say it because, in my opinion, the real last barrier is the support for graphics cards.
