Venik at Gorse, on Level 3 The Market

Venik chose to sell his wares to the portly man. After the old woman concluded her business, Venik walked up to the man.

"Hello!" He said, very happy now that he has another customer. The man folded his hands and let out a good-natural smile.

"Hey, are you willing to buy these from me? I made them, so please take a look." Venik added the last part rather quickly, since the previous town he visit, the merchant refused to buy his wares due to her belief they were stolen.

"Oh, sure. Let me see." Venik sat dowm and unravel the brown sack, the man picked up a ring and after inspecting it, let out a low whistle. "These are really good, may I bring my brother-in-law to inspect them?"

Venik nodded his permission, and the merchant let out a loud, "Hey Winston! C'mere a second!" The man from the forge, looked up and said, "Give me a second Thomas."

Thomas wave, and returned to Venik. "Winston is a blacksmith as well, and he sell me some of his wares as well. Here, check out this locket he gave me yesterday. Thomas handed Venik a gold locket.

On further insepection, Venik was surpised by the detail: Two roses intertwine with one another, inbetween the two roses were the words "My Love." Venik pop open the Locket and found that there were a tree filled with leaves, an old symbol in smithing for life.

"Impressive huh?" Thomas said.
"I'll say. The detail alone is worth a thousand pieces easily."

"Thanks." Winston said, just making his way over to Thomas's stand. Winston looked over some of Venik's jewelry and came to the same conclusion as his brother-in-law. "These are really good, Exquisite even."

"May I use your forge? I can pay for the materials, I just need to do some work on my sword and crossbow, the sight on the crossbow is broken and the sword just need to be sharpened. "

"Go ahead, its open for everyone." winston mentioned, still inspecting some of Venik's jewelry.

"Before you go, I need to pay you for these jewelry, 1000 pieces should be enough?" Thomas handed him a wallet filled to the brim.

"Thank you, and have a good day." Venik said. He turned his attention to the forge.

Thanks Ray for the help, damn I was tired yesterday. Anyhoo, I wonder about the currency: Is it pieces, or gold or sliver? Dollars? Rupees?

Anyway, After the forge, I think I have Venik enter the strangled serpent next for a bit of work.

Oh, and we need to filled up the beast lore. I'll start with the Barbells:

Barbells:

Winged creature that is know to hunt in packs, unlike their lesser cousins the bars, The barbells are not simply scarvengers but crafty thieves and murderers. Be weary of fighting one, if there is one, then a few more is not far behind, waiting for the time to strike.

Barbells are kind of based on Vultures and foxes, if anyone want to expand on it, there you go.

Hendrik, level 4, Armed Amorous

As the serving maid brought him his breakfast Hendrik ate quickly, keeping his eye on those around him, three of them in particular. He studied them as he finished his meal and chugged back his water. Wiping the drops from his chin he let his fingers trail over his breastplate where his amulet was hidden below as he brought his hand back down.

He then quickly got to his feet and approached the snake-kin, intrigued by the wolfish statue he was carving. Perhaps this man was more well-travelled than most, perhaps this man would know about a small village around a single wooden tower surrounded by open grassland as far as the eye could see.

"Greetings, friend. Fine piece of work you got there, where'd you learn that?"

Kabal. Level 5, Guilds.

Kabal let out an annoyed growl before turning around.

Everyone is so damn useless in this city.

Before he left, he took a quick look at one of the forums the bald man had put on his desk. He picked up the forum for joining the guild and stuffed it in his bag. Being joined up with a group of spellcasters may be worth his wild later on.

He turned out the doors of the guild tower and went back into the main hall. Dealing with the Guild was a bust, and now Kabal had some time to kill. He stormed off towards the stairs to the lower levels.

"Well, let me think here..." The Bartender replied to Royce, "Word around Gorse is that a certain troupe of performers and Performers (Raising eyebrows in that "Sexual" way), are coming here, The Guilds are all busy as ever, the Thieves if I remember right are having hard time dealing with the Council in general, and the Magic folk are all a stir about some "Elemental" or another in town or something."

"You want my advice, ask Gale of Gorse if you want specifics in town, not much doesn't reach his ear, and he gives it for free, unlike me!" Pointing at Gale next to the now departing Dwarf, he gives a toothy grin of gold and silver.

Astor, Gorse, Level 4, The Wall
Initially he was ignored, as the constant ebb and flow of people to the job board were bent on work. Some glanced and looked away either in fear, disinterest, or simply their attitudes.

"Somewhat little Bird, perhaps-s-s, you'd like to join me heading down?" An odd voice, and tongue, of a Snake Kind tickled the back of Astor's neck. Turning around gaze would meet a Snake kind smooth and scaled, with the lower half a true Snakes body. Wearing white robes loose in the sleeves (like a kimono), with leather padding visible beneath. In hand was a staff of bone and fangs, in the other a small bag, with paper and scrolls sticking out of it. Around the waist was a red sash, and adorning the neck was an amulet showing a golden snake biting its tale in a constant circle.

Almost alive it was as it seemed to move under ones gaze, and the eye was like a ruby of blood, following you with the light reflected from it.

"I am Geniah of Gorse, and companion of Hunter Merchant Chief Gale, he is at the harbour awaiting word on his posts on the Job board. I am taking an express crane down to him, and would more then welcome taking a newcomer along." The voice was odd, and it took seconds to listen to it, to realize it was a female overtone.

Geniah waved her hand in the direction of some Cranes, a long line was for a larger one, but a smaller and more private was under guard and rotated quickly with 3 others.

"I'm sure he'd be more then happy to welcome a new comer, even one short of coin." Her voice was simple and honest as her tongue flicked in and out to taste the air, how she knew he was lacking was up to guess.

(No problem and all, and please don't take control of NPC's among other things. Their ordeals and ideals are my duty to play and act out for you the player. At times you can determine what some of them do easily by giving orders, and these is not one of them. I'll retcon most of your post I'm afraid, and as for the Beistary, it gets filled out when things are KILLED by the players. As for funds, coins of common metal are usually the works.

Oh, and lucky guess on the man at the forge being his brother-in-law)

The portly Merchant wrapped up his business with the Old woman, as Venik approached he smiled and bade him welcome, "Come, come show me your wares! Or perhaps you'd like to buy something for that special someone eh?"

As Venik opened his bag and displayed his own goods, the Merchant took the time to examine each piece, tap the metal, pinch the quality, and shine the gems.

"These are good works, but nothing special, I am a broker and under guard from the Council Head, so I will give you fair price and simple facts. 50 gold coins, 23 silver, and 96 copper for the bag, I'll thrown in this metal pass that will give you right of Forge for the city of Gorse, hand so you may make as much as you'd like at most forges."

Displaying the Right, it was an iron bar etched with ruins, and the main decoration was a circle with a hammer in the middle.

"You ask any free-lance merchant, he offer a bad deal." His voice was fair and well oiled like any merchant. "Act now, I give... Ah, ring of Once-a-Moon, very special, every full moon, if worn. Bound to find love for night, yes?" It was a silver thing and appeared on top of the pass by sleight of hand.

Adorned with a pink pearl mixed with a creamy white, it was small but quite a sight.

"It is good." The voice was simple and to the point, with a steel like quality, it was short but stable.
"I learn as way of old Tribe. I take, I make, I practice, I bring." The statue finished, he cupped it in his hands and muttered something, placing it on the fire, it did not burn, but rather stood up and walked down the fire pit, moving as fluid as any wolf would, and was soon joined by other wolves from the flames. A full pack of small wolves seemed to patrol the flames, and disappeared amongst the heat.

"You come, you look for something yes? Ask, I help, as is way of Chieftan."

Kabal. Level 5, Guilds.
The Central tower of Gorse, and it's massive spiral stair case was a hustle and bustle of foot traffic. Kabal joined the tide of it as he descended to the lower levels. Few gave him berth, but most ignored him as just a part of life, liberty, and races of all shapes and sizes.

Soon though, the people around him began to split like a rock in the river, and something was beginning to feel rather warm behind him.

"Are you a demon?" The voice was like the crackle of fire mixed with that of a young girl. If Kabal bothered to turn around his gaze would meet that of a young girl, no taller then 4 feet at best guess. Looking like a mannequin, meaning the general shape of a little girl, and what some would call endearing, or adorable. Rather, they would were it not for the fact she was on fire from head to toe, burning brightest closer to her body, and naked as the sun itself. Meaning nothing could be seen asides from a shape.

Her eyes and face were open with blue flames to mark her mouth and openings. "My captors said that I was born of a demon and elemental, I doubt that, but I'm looking for my mom, have you seen her? She looks like me but bigger and more on fire." She spoke quickly and curiously in the sweet way of an ignorant child.

It held a sense of knowing far too much for its own good as well, and she appeared to be following Kabal at a steadfast pace across stone steps.

Astor, Gorse, Level 4, The Wall

He had just spent ten minutes waiting with no reply for his request. Astor sighed and felt a bit silly. Maybe he should just ask the touts, even if they had a habit of taking too much coin. That was the problem with all this travelling, you got used to the place after a few days and then had to leave. Astor felt like a fish out of water, or rather a bird out of the sky, forced to peck at the few pickings of land. He decided to walk on, until a hiss up his spine stopped Astor in his tracks. It was a beautiful Snake Kind, with iridescent scales and graceful movements, despite the lack of legs. The louts back at the tavern were a stack contrast, they had neither the finery nor the grace. The smooth voice marked the Snake as female and she introduced herself as Geniah. She spoke of a 'Hunter Merchant Chief' called Gale, who was waiting for something at the Harbour and mocked him for his relatively short stature and lack of coin. Astor didn't like that, finding his pride injured, nor the notion of introducing oneself in this town as 'Someone of Something'. Astor waited for Geniah to say her piece, looking every bit the interested party, as he thought of how to introduce himself and a retort to her remarks.

"...I'm sure he'd be more then happy to welcome a new comer, even one short of coin."

Geniah had finished, the ruby eye of the snake in the amulet almost winking as the light passed over it. It was all too soon for Astor, who found himself lost for words for a second, then he quickly recovered and preceded to stand straight, bowed his head and crossed his arms in effort to look deep in thought. He replied soon after.

"I have a name, it is Astor of... well, nowhere at the moment," Astor said, his anger quickly fading. "I accept and will join you, for I would like to meet this 'Hunter Merchant Chief'. The Harbour has a great sea view, I take it?"

That title sounded important, maybe this was one of his lucky breaks on his travels. He felt that there had been too many and over-relied on them. However, the chance of a Hunt perked him up, Astor would like to test his skills and bring back a good trophy to his tribe. He made a mental note to watch out for Snakes and their coin-sensing tongues, or not to sit there picking at an empty wallet, and waited for Geniah's reply.

Hendrik, level 4, Armed Amorous.
Hendrik took half a step back in surprise as the statue seemingly came to life. Regaining his composure after a second he cleared his throat and looked around the room to see if anyone else had noticed, but those present all seemed to mind their own business.

"A village, wooden tower surrounded by fields of grass, is what I'm looking for. Any chance you might've heard about something like that?"

Whilst speaking he kept on eye on the flames in the nearby hearth and another on the snake-kin, wary of any further tricks or other surprises.

Kabal. Stairs descending from level 5.

An irked expression formed on Kabal's face as the many citizens of the town hastily moved out of his way. He had come to expect the usual odd look from humans, but this was simply excessive. A few moments after feeling heat raising from behind him he heard a voice belonging to that of a young girl, but somehow inhuman in nature.

"Are you a demon?"

Kabal did not break stride and only turned his head to look at the flaming girl following him. He had some many frightening sights in his time, but this creature still unnerved him.

"My captors said that I was born of a demon and elemental, I doubt that, but I'm looking for my mom, have you seen her? She looks like me but bigger and more on fire."

"I'm not sure what matter of being I am. I was born of human parents though. Make of that what you will."

Kabal noticed how intent the girl was at following along and stopped in his tracks. He gave her his full attention for the moment, hoping telling her what she wanted would get her off his back.

"I have not laid eyes on an elemental either. I'm afraid I dont know where your mother is. Is there anything else?"

"Excellent. The sea does indeed have a view there, but to fly above or from the towers heights can you truly appreciate it. The Harbor is more a place were the ships and other folk block much from view."

Slithering on over towards the elevator, she paused and waited for Astor to follow. Reaching in to her clothing and grabbing a simple wooden marker, "Come Astor of Nowhere, and welcome to Gorse."
Humor was not something you could expect in her tone, but Geniah still held it.

"Hmm. I see many such places. Many different, Many gone. If you are lost and look for home, Ask guild of map makers, they give good work, and keep record."
The Snake Kind replied, as it reached down next to his chair, pulling out a wooden block. Gently carving it out quickly and decisively, one could imagine it being a bird in flight already. Just from the general shape that was being given.

"Guild is hard. They don't talk, unless you help. That or help imp-oar-taint people." He sighed as his tongue flickered in and out tasting air.

"Burning wood give foresight, tell me you have long road ahead, that or short bridge."

"Yes, but thank you, I should get going. I hope you find what you are looking for." Her tone was sincere if a bit quick, as distant shouting was heard. Looking around, the elemental headed toward an open window, like a rectangle of light, from the tower.

The crowd parted before her, and those not fast enough got singed.

"Catch it!" A voice shouted female in tone, and echoed with magic to enhance it. A few people did try, but she ducked and weaved, and flared with heat to evade them. Finally a giant metal man like a golem managed to grab her, Holding her tight as she struggled, growing brighter, and judging by the metal, quite hot.

Hendrik, level 4, Armed Amorous.
Hendrik stared at the Snake Kind for several moments, scratching the back of his neck. Looking decidedly awkward he takes a quick look around to the room to see if there's anyone within hearing distance. Finding nobody close he turns back to the Chieftain.

"I erm... don't know the name of the village... we never called it anything but home, didn't really need to call it anything else. Never talked to outsiders so..."

Looking first at the unfinished bird-like carving and then at the fire Hendrik shakes his head before continuing on.

"Don't think a map's going to do me much good. And, I don't mean to be rude, I'm not sure how much good burning wood will do. She, that being my goddess you see, controls my destiny and can't recall her ever having much to do with flames and such. That might've been on account on the wooden temple though, don't mix well. Wood and fire that is..."

Hendrik halts for a moment before glancing at the firepit and thinking of the statuette the chieftain had thrown in there moments before.

But I guess you'd know more about that than me, being able to not burn wood and all that. You don't happen to know about my goddess do you? She ain't got no name either, just goddess or Her..."

He trails off as he notices he's rambling and hastily checks around him to see if anyone else overheard. He focusses his attention on the chieftain again, looking quite uncomfortable. Should a silence fall he'd mutter a short thanks and goodbye before retreating and leaving the establishment.

Astor, Gorse, Level 4, The Wall

Geniah seemed pleased with his decision to join her in her little journey to the harbour, and a little too pleased with her jokes at his expense. Astor continued with following her, regardless of whether it was a trap for a 'simple traveller' like him. Geniah seemed nice enough and he thought that he could deal with her if need be.

"...Come Astor of Nowhere, and welcome to Gorse."

A slight chuckle escaped Astor's mouth as he entered the strange contraption. It appeared to be like the cranes that towered over the Harbour, pulling goods into dock - a mess of rope, pulleys and wood. Clearly this was a crane designed not for the movement of goods, but for the movement of people. He leant back on the walls of the elevator, waiting for Geniah to activate it. A stranger to elevator etiquette - the manner of silently waiting for the elevator to reach the required level or floor - Astor continued on with the conversation.

"My thanks, I will visit the towers later," He said, putting his hand on his chest in his tribe's manner of gratitude. Astor then sought to correct Geniah, 'of Nowhere' wasn't a good epithet, even when said in jest, "I think in time it will be Astor of Audarg, for such will be the scope of my travels."

Secretly, he hoped the names Geniah called him wouldn't stick. Secretly, he didn't mind that the sea view at the Harbour would be blocked by the flow of people, ships and good, for Astor just wanted to see the sea up close. Secretly, he hoped Geniah wouldn't twist his words against him, for she was clearly the better at wordplay.

"Thanks...I guess," Royce muttered as the barkeeper took his coins. Perhaps he would pay the man and his fine establishment a visit tonight when everyone else is in bed.

Royce took another sip from his beer. Gods but the stuff tasted bad but one couldn't really expect much better for only a few silver. He hoped that at least the food would be decent. With a sigh he put the mug down and walked over to where Gale was standing.

"I was told you were the go-to for news, work and such."

Kabal's eyes widened at the simple gesture. He would have been ready to thank the girl if not for the sudden disturbance. The girl was off before he could get another word out, and golem-like man came after the girl, trying to restrain her.

"Would anyone care to explain what is transpiring? Why are you after the girl?"

Looking behind him Hendrik grabbed a nearby chair and settled into it, dropping his shield on the floor next to him. Shifting his heavy armour around a bit until he managed a comfortable position he looked at the floor in front of him for a long while.

"I don't... remember. I'm not sure. The priest told many stories, been a long while since I listened. Didn't always pay too much attention back then, not the smartest kid. Could you... could you tell me the story?"

Hendrik looked somehow smaller than usual, still big but for some reason no longer nearly as intimidating. His entire attention was focussed on the Snake Kind, hoping he might finally have found some clue that could lead him back home, where he belonged.

"Such an Audacious reply for one so fresh, titles carry some weight in the world, and 'Audarg' is only for the truly great." Entering the elevator and showing her pass to a man at a lever wearing a suit of leather.

The elevator itself began to move down and was more or less a wooden frame with pulleys and ropes. Small parcels tied to the walls with instructions in case of sudden drops. "Strap to back, pull ring" to sum up the common tongue. Helpful arrows directed which way it went, and if one were to name it, they'd call them Parachutes.

"Your travels and deeds will have to be long and hard for it. I know of only one who has such a title, and they are akin to a god." She spoke kindly and understanding, like a mother to a son ready to leave the nest.

Looking out to the sprawling ocean and ships upon it as the elevator lowered, behind them were the honeycombs and windows of buildings and structures, some grand and majestic upon the cliff face, others merely like barnacles drying from the tide.

"Perhaps Astor of the Air for now? It suits all who are born of it."

Kabal's comment not exactly directed towards anyone in general, was answered by a troupe of magical in nature.
Perhaps of the Magic Guild, three people brushed past, each wearing suits of metal and cloth, gauntlets with runes, and guards at the joints as well colored a dull bronze like sheen. With matching hoods and goggles to make them all but unseen for bare skin, they looked odd but menacing.

Surrounding the Man in Metal, the yelled at him to hold her still as they formed a triangle and chanted something beginning slowly, but faster every few heart beats marginally.

A fourth person in armor of brass sheen, something like this... <spoiler=Armor>http://i.imgur.com/vaLZE.jpg Yet covered in softly glowing runes, her helmet was at her side, and in her right hand was a pole looking to be made of brass with a half-circle on top. Looking as if it could close upon something, like a neck, the power in it hummed and radiated cold.

Yelling to clear and move out of the area, as the Man in Metal merely grunted, and chanting went on. She stood besides Kabal, her face was charming yet strict, like an icicle poised to fall and kill a man by passing through his entire head, and out the other end.

"That Demon, is an Elemental, now lest you wish to be sealed in a lamp, what did she speak to you of?" The woman and her tone was Commanding with a capital C for ****.

"We are Sanctioned by the Guild of Magic and with permission from a Head of the Council to do as we see fit in this matter, so don't believe that I shan't."

"I'm not so good with stories, you ask Geniah, she is wise in this, and has good magic for finding home. She is like me, but with tail, and red sash. Beautiful is her voice, and her scales are color, that shows like emerald." Starting off Nervous at trying to tell a story, his tone shifted in to someone who was in love clearly.

Realizing this, he hissed a bit, not out of malignancy but rather embarrassment.
"This I know, she goes to Harbor, very short trip if you follow me, and not scared." Standing up and putting his wood away, he still looked a bit green around his gills, or rather scales. His tone was quick, and someone trying to cover up his faults.

Kabal's comment appeared to have been ignored. All focus was on the creature being held by the steel man. Kabal looked on in silence as several more people circled around her and began their chanting.

"That Demon is an Elemental"

Kabal turned his head to meet eyes with the woman covered in runes.

"now lest you wish to be sealed in a lamp, what did she speak to you of? We are Sanctioned by the Guild of Magic and with permission from a Head of the Council to do as we see fit in this matter, so don't believe that I shan't."

Kabal acknowledged the warning with only a cocked eyebrow.

"You can save the petty threats for someone else. The girl was only asking for her mother. Though why she'd think to come to me is not something she was given time to explain"

(My bad, there it is supposed to be, "That Demon, Is an Elemental.")

"Hmph! You shoul-" Before the Bit-, Witch Knight (Fun Fact-This character is currently being played in a concurrent thread on another site by another player and their group) could finish her sentence, a cry of pain came from the Man in Metal.

At the scene it was clear that his armor had melted at several points and his tolerance for pain was long gone. The elemental made a dash for the window heating the very rock she walked on before jumping out.

The sealing Mages ceased chanting and rushed to the window, one turning back as the other two looked on, and shook his head to the Knight.

"Damn, let us see if we can find that abomination somewhere here, it isn't inclined on leaving we know that." She said irritation lacing her voice like syrup,
"As for you demon, if that thing bothers to contact you again, I suggest you contact us. You're the only person that thing has spoken to, and the guild will pay a Kings Ransom, or a Queens Favor for it."

Reaching in to a pack on her wait behind her, she brought out a silver rimmed with gold card, roughly the size of deck of cards. A single rune was inscribed on the front and back.

"Take this, hold tightly for 3 seconds, and we'll know where you are." Her voice changed to more reasonable tone, but still holding disdain.

Kabal, between level 4 and 5, Grand Stairs.

Kabal waited for the chanting to be over so he could get on with his day when the metal man screamed. The clever little creature had escaped his grip and proceeded out the window.

"Damn, let us see if we can find that abomination somewhere here, it isn't inclined on leaving we know that."

Why not? Shouldn't it try to get as far away as possible? Why are they trying to catch it if it's not malevolent? And why...

"As for you demon..."

Again with the damn demon!

"if that thing bothers to contact you again, I suggest you contact us. You're the only person that thing has spoken to, and the guild will pay a Kings Ransom, or a Queens Favor for it."

Kabal took a close look at the card the knight produced. There were still far too many questions in his head. But he knew these weren't the type of people that were forthcoming. Though he could forgive all that if they came through with the "Queen's favor" bit of the arrangement.

Kabal took the card in his hand and gave the knight a nod.

"You shall be alerted the moment I lay eyes upon the child. You can be sure."
