Okay 1) no, you are not forced to use it. Even in something like Dishonored, you can perfectly go through the game without ever once using Dark Vision/Void Gaze. Same with the newest Thief. Same with Deus Ex HR/MD. Same with Styx: Master of Shadows (although in defense of Styx, getting the "X-Ray Vision" power takes a lot of work)

2) I haven't played Watch Dogs 2 (and I played FC1/2 hell of a long time ago and don't remember much), but the rest of those are complete lies. In Mafia 3, X-ray is not automatic, it's a button you have to actively press. Not to mention, it's pretty useless as a stealth tool UNLESS you've done the whole wiretapping thing. In Sniper Elite 2/3/4, you need to actively mark people with the binoculars for them to show through walls, just looking at them does nothing, so again, you can play without doing it. Far Cry 3/Blood Dragon/4/Primal I will grant you it's automatic when you use the camera/cyber eye/owl what have you, although you can, of course, not use those things at all (and you can turn off weapon tagging in the options menu, IIRC).

So, yknow, just don't use the stuff you don't like to use. I've played all these games without using the features and it's fine. The only gripe I have with a lot of them is that I can't turn off the minimap without turning off the entire darn HUD.

I mean, its B-Cell. If its there, he has to use it. That's just how things work. Nothing is optional, its an advantage! He cant not press the button which gives him an advantage!

Actually, to be fair, isn't that most people? I can't really speak from experience that much, but I can't imagine that intentionally not using a game mechanic isn't that easy on a psychological level - there'll always be the temptation to use whatever advantage you have.

To a degree. If you hit a point where you're not enjoying the game because of how the advantage changes the flow of gameplay....why keep using it? When the activity is leisure, winning at all costs should not come at the cost of enjoying that leisure time.
