I'm new to magic, but I have to say I prefer blue and light as a secondary, I like the idea of "Slow and Steady" and am pretty careful with other things as well...

Although this deviates a bit from the topic at hand, I haven't really played much magic games, and I was wondering, what happens if you don't draw a land card in your first hand? I mean, the one (very short) time I did play, I only drew one island card, used that, and the next card I drew wasn't any land card either, since my hand was full and I had nothing I could summon, I really couldn't do anything, couldn't draw another card, couldn't summon monsters, none of that.

So, is there some way in the rules to get around this or what?
You Mulligan, it means that you shuffle your hand in the deck and take a new hand, with one less card. Repeat untill happy.

OT: My colours are usually Green+Blue Creatures and spells mainly Forest walk elven deck with sorcerers and spells from blue.. works most of the time.

If memory serves, color protection does not activate until the creature is in play. A creature with Protection from Blue can still be countered when it's cast, but you couldn't play something like Unstable Mutation or Regress on it.
I see... Heh, the only way I can see how to not get gibbed when Emrakul goes into play is if you have a Vedalken Orrery in place before it gets out, then play a Wrath of God.
Well...Emrakul doesn't have protection from activated abilities...so how about an Executioner's Capsule?
He has protection from colors, so still no. Seems like Emrakul is the "fuck you" button if it ever gets out.
Protection from colored SPELLS (spells use the stack). Not from all colours like Pristine Angel and Etched Champion.

Still, Emrakul is one mean flying spaghetti monster.
Aw crap! Totally an old-guy moment there!

EDIT:
Here's a thought: What happens if you have both Platinum Angel and Abyssal Persecutor on your side?
Uuuuuuggghhhh....*checks the internet*...

Well ;)..apparently it is something like this:

You cannot lose the game (Platinum), but neither can your opponent (Persecutor). Either your opponent manages to remove the Angel somehow and win the game (because you had no lifepoints or he reduced them to 0, mill or alternative win conditions) or you manage to remove the Persecutor and win the game.

If neither is possible then it's a draw. At least in a tournament setting (due to time constraints). In casual play people can engage in a pointless battle of wills until one of the players concedes...but that would be a total dick move.

I play mono-white.

I've got 2 standard decks right now.

One I call "Ride of the Valkyries" - themed on big scary mythic angels that ruin your day, with luminarch ascensions for a secondary win condition. The other I call "a Knightly Constitutional" which is a knights deck - white weenie knights, with HotP & battle cry to buff up, and exemplars for indestructability, and a ton of pro-colour to sheild.

Fun stuff.

Blue and/or black. I generally prefer to out think my opponent with different counters/combination. Its more fun that brute force from say red or green. I know there are tactics for those two as well but Blue and Black are pretty much built around such strategies.

Iv'e always played Black, from my first ever deck to my masterfully crafted 'pro' deck.
Sometimes I'll play a White deck just because I like white. But I am a black deck guy at heart.

All of them. Every single color. Every archetype, every variant, every theme.

I just enjoy making decks to see if the concept is viable.
Sadly, this reveals just how useless the vast majority of cards are (at least in Constructed formats).

I used to play either red or black, but mostly red.

I haven't played Magic in so long, it's bad enough that I have no one to play with, but I completely lost most of my deck...

Except that he is affected by Journey to Nowhere because you choose the target after the spell resolves nullifying Emrakul's protection, much in the same way that you can Fling him at your opponent since sacrificing a creature as an additional casting cost does not target him while it's a spell if you can just as easily sac a token. Also there are plenty of cards that can easily have Emrakul become exiled instead of hitting the graveyard that would trigger his ability.

Blue, some of the most interesting and cool spells and combinations. Although I tend to actually play better with Red, burning everything in site has its advantages.

Taken from the MTG wiki, a quote of the rules regarding targeting and protection:
502.7b - A permanent with protection can't be targeted by spells with the stated quality and can't be targeted by abilities from a source with the stated quality.
JtN comes into the field and then it's ability activates. It's ability is from a white source and requires a target (As it specifically says "Target Creature") which isn't allowed by protection. So no, Journey to Nowhere wouldn't work on Emrakul.

Except that Emrakul has protection from coloured spells, not their abilities. If I wanted to I could also kill him with Royal Assassin or even just bounce him with Jace.

I'm annoyed and slightly amused that people are still arguing about my post - whether I could have casted Emrakul, and whether my opponent could have hit it with Path to Exile. The funny thing is that it seems no one actually read my post. To quote the relevant section:

Chamale said:
Okay, opponent, I now have one of these in play:
I noticed the problem with exhuming Emrakul early, so I decided to entomb Pathrazer instead. Not quite as powerful, but with Annihilator 3, the opponent is screwed unless he has a turn 1 Path to Exile.

There are few things more lulzy than a hippo.

I feel most at home playing suicidal black-green, though.
